Question Blobeye Wagon inspection tips

I'm going to look at a 54 plate WRX Wagon tomorrow with 50K on the clock. It's got a full Subaru history (6 stamps) and has just had the 50K service and cambelt change. In general the car looks very clean from pictures and what the garage has said. What things should I be looking out for on the inspection other than the obvious? I'm really looking for issues that particularly affect this model. What would you say the fair market rate is for one of these at the moment (rough guide)?

I may be joining you in Scooby ownership tomorrow!

Cheers!

I paid £8795 for an 05, 42k with SL and PPP from a garage. I reckon you should be about £7k

Look out for the effects of shiny ar5ed corduroy trousers on the drivers seat as well as burnishing from leather elbow patches on door cards etc
Apart from that, if it's straight...look down the whole length of the car, each side in good light...and looking under the bonnet and inside the boot space, the mastic sealant is regular on each side then, given a good service history you should be good to offer less than the asking price

Listen for the rattle of dodgy shocks, see if they've been done.

Ask about the brakes too, remember these are not a replace at service item so could be well worn. discs pads etc could give you haggle room. How far off 60k is it? thats actually a bigger service than the cambelt

Check for oil leaks under the engine, the sump went on mine and had to be replaced.

5t.

Thanks for all your help. I bought the car yesterday and I am totally in love with it! I got it for an excellent price especially considering the history and condition were mint. As soon as it's clean again (I drove it back 150 miles and it's not very shiny any more) I'll post some pics!

Am pleased for you buddy- the milage seems good and you shouldn't have any probs- I bought similar and serves both as a usefull family car and big fun when the missus isn't in the passenger seat
