As said, 05 is better, but if you can't stretch that far, see if you can wiggle 10% off the 04 to get it to £9k. With PPP, warranty and 6k less miles, would be a better purchase.

Still not sure what to do....the 2003 standard and modded it or go for the 2004 with the ppp...

I also really like this one from the main dealer - but he wont move on the price...

Used Subaru Impreza 2003 2.0 WRX-STI TYPE UK PPP 4 Door Saloon for sale at AMC (Chelmsford) Ltd, Chelmsford, Essex

Cant believe that dealer wont move on price? I cant see buyers rushing to snap it up in the current climate. I hate haggling with dealers its almost mission impossible.

In response to your original post id got for the 03 STi, spend some money on a full and thorough service (cambelt change if its not been done as its due at that mileage). Id then go for a full exhaust system with sports cat or decat, panel filter, fuel pump and ECUTEK remap and you will have a nice sorted car with circa 330bhp, much better then the PPP option imo.

Does not look like a OEM Subaru exhaust but the PFF's are £1800 new for a set with tyres.

The Proven warranty is pretty good and may be worth that extra cash for peace of mind. Still strange he won't budge on price. I would of thought £9.5 at least would tempt them.

The dealer is obviously trying to make money during hard times. He will move on the price, but like all dealers they hope you pay full list.

Leave your delails with him. Inform him you're off to view a few other car, both private and dealers. If he want's to do a deal, he's to give you a call.

Sit back with a nice cup of tea and wait for his call.

You'll get this car for £9k. Maybe less

There are hundreds of Impreza's for sale right now. If you don't get this one, another one will up for sale somewhere else.

Well the car £7500 has just been service by xtremescooby in essex including the timing belt - I spoke to xtremescooby who said they can take it up to 330bhp with mod's like you have suggested above for 1800 plus VAT - my concern with doing it that way is losing all the money on mod's...

So for 9500 I would get a STI with 330 but no warrenty

or 9995 if he won't the STI ppp and I do like those wheels on it...

The 2004 STI PPP 9995 is being sold by RRH auto's scooby dealer recommended from this site and he seems to really know his stuff as well...

I am going to view the one in the main dealers on Saturday and see if I can knock him down what would be a realistic price 9ish...

With the price and rate the value of cars is dropping I don't want to take a hugh hit right at the start of ownership...

Any advice would help...

Is your deal cash or trading in?

I traded in 3 months ago a spanking 04 wrx bought brand new by myself I knew what i wanted and wasn't that fussed about selling, 3 hours later we did the deal on my terms against a Hawkeye Sti with PPP. It's a buyers market, Deal with the main dealers and there is warranty but it will cost more than private!

If I was you i'd carrying on testing the water something will appear and you will be blown away by the deal!

Dealers aren't moving in price even considering the current climate. I was very surprised. They say they've priced the cars to sell. I've just bought a MY06 STi. I saw a few and none were willing to move much, they'd rather lose a deal than reduce the price. One guy moved a few hundred and so went with him. I was expecting a lot more discount but it's just not out there, not unless the car is overpriced in the first place
