There is somthing leaking out my car but i cant work out what it is!!

its not coolent its really green and aircon looking but..

its commin out from inside my N/S/F wing as shown below.

this the puddle i keep leaving every where.


any ideas??

 

That looks like coolant. the overflow for the coolant system discharges near the battery, its the hose that comes off the top of the plastic bottle behind the passenger side headlight. have you checked that?

EDIT: Does it only happen after you have used the car? or if you leave it a few days is it still dripping.

 

only noticed it today after driving it.

i will check that tomorrow then.

I had it all down the inside of my bonnet while changing turbos!

 

right just been out side and the coolent hoses are all attached. does this mean i got a split somwhere or is there literally like a overflow on the scoobs.

i only nocticed this today after driving lots of short trips, 10 mins apart. drivin quite hard! (hehe it is icey!!)

Excuse my ignorance but i only had the car a short while!

 

yes mate it sounds like your overflow check the bottle just infront of your battery it as a tube out the top of cap drips down on to road..or should...id check the header tank too just to be safe. and ask why it overflowing ....

 

There is an expansion bottle in fron of the battery, with an overflow into the wing, however, in normal use you shouldn't lose any coolant.....

check the header tank on the engine, (remove with caution if hot)........ and keep an eye on it.....

I don;t mean to scare you, but it could be an early sign of something amiss...... drive with care until you know whats happening with the coolant levels......

as said there is a coolat bottle hidden in the wing. sometimes the pipe connection to it leaks. if the head gasket was on its way out id of thought it would blow out of the little tube you can see not leak down the wheel arch, so not all doom and gloom just yet.

have not long topped it up litterally days ago so maybe i put a bit to much in.
header tanks fine and there no sign of milkyness in the oil. i will keep an eye on it. thanks alot for all your help! i hate being cluless with cars!!! i been a V.A.G man for years never ventured into the jap cars! Altho so far so good!

 

It will be pushing out the stuff it does not need mate. it works on a syphon system. if you top up both bottles. after a few drives it should stop dripping

I had this problem, turned out it was the thermostat not opening fully. Changed it and its been fine since took me months to work out what was going on!

 

my temp seems stable. im hoping its just a case of the new rad change, and me slighlty over filling the coolent!

Time will tell!!

 

If you changed the radiator it will definatly be that, it will settle down soon

 

yeh i changed it last week. sorry i suppose i should i said that to start with.

 

you can check if the level is correct by looking at the bottle by the right inner wing (as you look at the car from the front) It should be upto the top line. The header tank should be full if the cap is working correctly. Otherwise it can tend to empty its self and then not fill itself back up.
