Default Dilemma. To track and daily drive or just track?

Hi,

I bought my first scoob about a month ago as a second car to track. My second car is a mint focus 04 1.8 (great car and fast enough for a commute).

This was when i had my sensible hat on.

After commuting in the scoob for a month, and a track day at Brands im really not seeing the point for having the focus. The fuel consumption is pretty poor, but thats mostly due to my right foot i think.

So the question is, Do i:
Sell the focus and plough the money to make this Classic Mint and quite fast to track.
Sell the focus and buy a decent blob to track. And do it up over time.
Keep the focus and mod the classic into a track beast.

Anyone track their daily drive? Or daily drive their track car?

Clearly i need a car to get to work. I kept the focus for piece of mind if i blow the scoobaru on the track, i can still get to work on a monday to earn the money to repair it.

Interested in your opinions.

Thanks
Chris

Anyone track their daily drive?
Chris,

Either of the above

I track my all my 4 daily drive Subaru's (bent on on the track) but as I only live 1/4mile from work less if I walk it's not a problem if worst happens as fully insured

iv got a classicc that im most likely going to modify to make it a much faster road car and a track machine, but half of me wants to by a track only impreza for the same money.

I know how you feel it is such a hard desicion.

Sell the Focus, but a cheaper runaround car (for when the Impreza is off the road) and spend the rest of the money on the Impreza

i think ive decided to keep the focus and make the scooby into a decently fast road/track car.

Then i can decide in say a years time when i have some track time under my belt whether i want to take it further.

I think if i had to drive the car to work the next day (as i did sun/mon) it might make me go too easy on the car.

I dunno. The car seems to be able to take it...

Im also worried about how the engine will cope with track abuse. Everyone who does occasional track use a baffled sump?

I'd recommend getting one.
Just had one fitted to my new engine, got it from Mark @ Lateral Performance

i used to use my old track car , for work ( only a 7 mile drive ) and for a local run about , the full harness was a bit embarrassing sometimes :-)
