Default STI vs UK car?

Hello all,

Just wondering as looking at getting an Impreza and wnat the 'old shape' but with the white dials and revised dashtop etc...

Have seen loads for sale and really after an STI RA (as will want to track day the car) but was just wondering what the difference is between a UK spec and an STI (import) if both were say on a S/T plate?

Thanks

Lee

There are so many differences that to write them all down would take about 30 mins (and im a quick typist!)

The only similarities are they look the same, the engines, gearboxes, and most of the other mechanical parts are different, if you go for a MY99 model which was a phase 2 engine (version 5 STi v UK turbo) then you have 276bhp v 215bhp.
Now its not all about power, you have to look at the insurance implications of having a JDM import, if your fairly young then it will cost you considerably more to insure over a uk car, and then there are the ecu issues for fuel on the JDM cars, they really need mapping to run uk fuel safely.
