Radar / Laser Detectors
#2
Hi!
Has anyone had any experience of using/owning any radar/laser detectors?
Do they work (i never speed just enjoy spotting speed traps when im bored on long journeys)?
Any one got any product recommendations?
A lighter right shoe?
Thanks
James

James,
I'm having a Geodesy GPS based device delivered today. There has been mention of it in previous posts, will find the pages from the earlier post. Will post back my views on it.
It uses GPS to tell you when you are approaching accident blackspots. Naturally you'll want to slow down for those areas. Since speed cameras are only placed in those areas ( of course ) it will ensure that you are proceeding at a safe speed for the road.

I've got a bell vector 95 (us import) it detects all the gatso's etc, and also has ku and alpha IR band (which detects those funny cameras with the orange front disk over the flash), think its legal here (but its broke if any police ask !!) cost $450 but also has stealth mode, the detectors here aren't much cop as they can't detect alpha IR (which about 35% of cameras are I believe)and KU is only on the most expensive ones.
Hope this helps Paul.

I use a Snooper 915e which is a remote installation system - RX positioned at the front of car with control unit in cabin. It also has a laser dectector, but if you pick up a laser signal it's too late! This works fine, but is no use on pressure sensitive cameras of which there seem to be an increasing number - Sandy, A1 Beds and Bythorn A14 east bound for starters.
