Boys & Girls,
I have been considering organising the following type of day at Goodwood or somewhere similar (assuming there are any free tracks days left!)..
Format would be along these lines:
- briefing on arrival, about the track and likely conditions based on weather on the day.
- before lunch groups of 5 cars per session with an experienced driver co-piloting for you to give you some pointers.
- after lunch groups of 5 cars per session, with or without experienced co-pilot depending how you feel, and sessions for the guys who were original being passengers to give you pointers.
The idea would be to make the day cost about £150 for the track use for the novices, but the guys instructing would pay a nominal fee as they probably would not get more than 2 sessions out...
Could novices interested in doing this later in the year, please post here, so I can guage interest and people that would be willing to give their time for the benefit of driver education of the novices please email me off line as well as posting.
Hope this post makes sense
Thanks, Alex

I've got Goodwood booked for next saturday and the 3rd March already though I assume I can still come, tuiton etc would still be very useful for me.

Gary,
Where abouts exactly is Goodwood, ie what's the nearest motorway etc...I could be interested as I'm near Canterbury and most tracks are miles away from me too!!
Thanks
Nito

As Chris says, Chichester - it's on the A27 (same road as the M27)
Try the RAC website, this will give you a map with directions and an estimate of how long the journey will take. V useful.

Thanks, I'll have more info soon.. will try to keep the numbers to a managable level so that we all get at least 5-6 goes out on the track.. plus obviously a couple of sessions reserved for the guys that teach us that day
So any of you track veterans with advance driving techniques fancy helping out giving some novices some tuition??
I'll get some dates of when and where, and see what can be done. Watch this space.
(please don't stop posting if interested in coming as either a novice or teacher)
Cheers, Alex

Sorry I couldn't make Sunday..... Saturday at Donno was a very expensive day and I was still recovering from the wallet-bashing!!
Would be v.interested in a 'novice' day - some track tuition would be more than welcome.
Count me in!

Thats cool, I've not seen one on track before I'm interested to see how well she goes, they are renowned for their handling I've never heard a bad word said about them.
You'll have to take me out for a lap or two.

I didn't know you were there, what were you driving ? I was the Silver MY98 with a black boot loader thing (R?? YSS) you probably both overtook me a number of times.
(Was expensive for me too, changed all pads (back as well) at lunch and 5 tyres ... ouch !)

I was in the Black WRX with the burning brakes! - you probably passed me on the pit straight as I was limited to 112mph!! As of today its delimited..... hence I want another track day.
Rannoch - Saw your lovely STI in the pits very tasty - I was concentrating VERY hard on staying on the track though, so the only car I really noticed was Mike R's Cossie - Every time he overtook me I thought my front grille would melt!!

The one downside of Goodwood is that for beginners the run-off areas are limited. Palmers Autodrome would be good, but I don't know what access is like for the public now.
Autocar are planning a bunch of track days there this year - so it may be possible.
