Default New Owner, Little help please

Hi Guys,
This may sound a little strange but I need to know what model my WRX Impreza is.
It’s a T reg WRX Wagon, it’s an import but thats really about all I know
Below is a picture but I don’t know what model number EG GC8 and GF8 (these could be newer models for all I know)

For the first time I bought a car “blind” & didn’t really do any research into it any info would be much appreciated. Sorry to sound like a newbie, but I really am!!

LOL

Thanks man, I'm really really chuffed with it. I've wanted an Impreza for years, but never really looked into them.

I drifted out the car scene for a few years when I bought a flat and have been bumming around in a 1.0 6n VW polo for a year & a half. When this came up for sale right next door, I couldnt resist. I had the readys sitting in the bank, just went & bought it straight out after getting a very reasonable insurance quote!

It's COMPLETELY standard, even still has the jap headunit it was imported with. I've a few ideas of what I want to do to it, but I think it looks great as it is, so its all going to be performance/handling based, but want to find out the exact model number so I can start researching a few things before throwing money at it :-)

Its a GC8.

You will find the exact model number on the plate on the strut tower.

All classic shaped ones (i.e. yours) are GC8 on the passenger side suspension turret will be a VIN plate with trim code, paint code, applied model number etc

Have a look at the applied model code and compare it to this

The 7 digit "applied model" code found on the vehicle identification plate inside the engine bay is decoded in the following way.
1.Series code G=Impreza S=Forester B=Legacy etc.
2.Body type F=Wagon C=Sedan
3.Engine type 8=2.0L Turbo
4.Year code A=MY93 B=MY94 C=MY95&96 D=MY97 (facelift) E=MY98 F=MY99 G=MY00
5.Number of doors 2=2 door coupe 4=4 door saloon 5=5 door wagon/hatch
6.Model type 8=WRX 7=RA type E=Sti D=Sti Type R & RA
7.Transmission D=5 Speed Manual AWD P=4 Speed Automatic AWD

(although it's GF8 in your case most people just call them GC8 )
