The Truth about H.....
#1
How do i stand if i write the truth about a certain Scoobynet member, even though its the truth, could I be done for slander.
Should i name and shame or should i just keep quite ??
I want everyone to know, but can't be bothered with anymore lies and hassle from him.
Thoughts please.

What worries me is the way this World is sliding....
We are so scared. If you know your facts are correct and can prove them. Contact Simon( its his house!!) Are you worried that this person might act the same to others on this BBS???? If so yes, tell us.. There seems to be a lot of this going on at the moment...

If its got something to do with "ripping" another member off, ie not sending goods that have been paid for I'd wanna know about it..
Reminds me...did Darren get his filter in the end from "not light"-"woof-woof" thread a while back?

I agree with Michelle, it is only polite to run it by Simon first.
Bear in mind that if it should descend into a libel/slander argument the facts usually seem to come second to who has the better lawyer.

I should probably stay out of these threads, but ...
Dingy, as I said to Craig last time in chat, your best bet (in general that is) is still to get to some kind of compromise between the 3 of you.
If you got beyond the point where that is possible, why don't both parties seek legal representation. Beyond the "lawyers are all sharks" mantra, most "cases" or disputes get settled out of court, mainly because when you look at the "legal" side of a dispute, all the "and then he called me a w@nker" etc bits tends to be put aside as non relevant. You just keep the facts that both parties want to put forward, and if the lawyers are worth their money, they will seek a compromise. I don't know if the UK is any different, but over here lawyers can get together "off the record" and try to find a compromise without the presence of their clients, and without disclosing what has been said. They normally know very well what will stick, what won't, and what is pretty iffy/crap shoot, and will then propose a solution to their respective clients.
It's a humbling experience sometimes, as it's got nothing to do with "justice/revenche" but with what's illegal and what's not.
That said, it will cost you money, and you may have wished later on that you could have worked out a compromise beforehand.
Using Scoobynet to "get it in the open" is not a good idea IMHO, but I understand from other threads that I stand pretty much on my own with this POV.
HTH,
Theo

No you don't Theo - I tend to agree.
Steve did say, though, that he wasn't planning on using Scoobynet.
IMHO (for what it's worth) Naming and Shaming leads to more problems than it resolves. Personally I would suggest it should be reserved for only the most extreme cases, where all other avenues have been explored thoroughly, and where delivering an overall benefit to the community is prime objective.

I think you need to be very careful on a site like this.
So many hits etc etc this person might take you to the cleaners if you do. Plus there is evidence of the stuff you say.

If you are worried... Contact a good Lawyer.
I am lucky. I have a client who to keep things simple is a senior partner in one of England oldest and most feared legal teams.
The threat from one of her letters has had another legal team acting onbehalf of someone who I was in dispute with, phoning their client warning them to back off!!!
Very senior legal teams ( no muppet squads) tend to have a good friendship with "Handy Cops" and very "nasty Criminals"
If you go to war ...be prepared. .
