Silver 5 door MY98 - doppleganger!!!

Has anyone else suffered this?
I got a letter demanding payment of a parking fine today as the registered keeper of a car that had been issued with a ticket.
I had put a personal plate on my scooby and it was the original plate that was called up, but on a SIMILAR car!!! That registration should NOT have been on any car at the time according to the DVLA. In fact when I sold the scooby they put that number back on it........so now there are two silver 5 door 1998 scoobies out there with the SAME number plate. WATCH OUT if you have a silver 5 door MY98.
I wont post the registration number for obvious reasons.
