I've had mine 8 1/2 years and sadly it's made of BacoFoil so that it dents very easy.
But people have no respect for cars these days, they are toss-away items for most and they simply don't care when they open their doors

This really sucks, has happend to me twice now. Not the scoob thankfully.
Both times no note or nothing, and what makes it worse if it can, is that it happend parked outside my house so was prob one of my neighbours.
Some people just have no respect, it's like dents in doors picked up form car parks and alike, there is absolutly no reason why anybody should open a door onto my car. I know some car parks are tight, but for christ sake, i wouldn't dream of it even if the car next to me is a worthless piece of junk.

I do sometimes get annoying looks off people. ****-em though.
Was once parking in Morrisons car park to do a bit of shopping. Parked in between 2 bays as usual, when this guy in a clapped out Mondeo decided that he wanted to park in one of the bays I was parked between. The car park was only aboout a quarter full, and I parked away from all other cars. But because he saw me parking between 2 bays he thought he'd be clever. Started shouting at me, giving the finger etc, then screeched off into another parking bay.
What he didn't bank on was me walking over to his car and asking him if he'd like to get out of the car and say it all to my face.
Pretending his mobile rang and answered a non ringing phone to avoid getting out of the car. Pr1ck

TBH i find the best option is to just park well out of the way in a corner where no one can get to you.
Doing that you might get away with the two bay thing but do that near the door and you just look like and ignorant gimp and i reckon it just draws more attention to the car along with an increased risk of keying etc.

Does anybody else get nervous like me when you're waiting in your parked car for someone, with a nice space either side and then some dozy-looking driver comes and parks in a space next to you? It feels like a game of Russian Roulette: will they be careful when they open their door? Or just open it straight into yours? The odds are stacked even more heavily against you if it's windy of course.

Hammering someone's door with your own is selfish, but taking up two spaces for yourself is rather selfish too (unless the car park really is invariably empty).
JMHO.
Like someone else said - parking at the back is the way to go. I've managed to avoid dents on two successive cars over seven years by doing this. Tempting fate by saying that, perhaps - especially as the Scooby has no door rubbing strips...
To be pessemistic for a moment... the fact that 4x4s and cars in general are getting bigger all the time, while our roads and parking spaces stay the same width, means that this kind of thing isn't likely to happen any less frequently...
Time to stick the bathroom sponges along the door crease

I have 3 kids park in the big parking space just for peeps like me. Morrisons car park this is, wash the car when needed I.E every 3 days or so. Went to Morrisons and packed the car with the kids, next day washed the car. All good till i get the the wife's end and 1 nice big scuff and a good dent for good luck. This is a trolly scuff, so it dont matter how you park the thick stupid b4st4rds still **** your car up.

Sorry to hear this happended to you. Yesterday lunch time when I got back to my car after parking it in a car park for an hour I returned to find someone had put an enormous scuff on my rear bumper (down to the plastic). It's going to cost me hundreds to get it repaired properly. Like you, I returned to find no note attached to my car
