Hi guys, does anyone have any idea how to remove these on a classic? Mine are looking all speckled and faded as the paint is wearing off. I know i'll need to remove my wind deflectors first, but not sure how the black rear panels actually come off. Don't want to paint them on the car in case of overspray, would rather remove them and do a tidy job first as last. Anyone done this to their classic, heard it quite a common problem? Cheers

 

I just rubeed mine back a little masked off primed and then sprayed in satin black look like new .

I have the same problem with mine, haven't got round to fixing them yet.
I dont know how they come off tbh or if they will
I'll just mask up and spray when i get space and time.

 

pull the rubber trim off (carefully as not to tear it) where the window sits when closed, then you see a row of screws take them out but get someone to hold it as the where the trim meets the lower part of the 1/4 panel there is 2 fragile trim clips, then it will come off, for refit do the reverse of what i have said, but use soapy water in a spray bottle to put the rubber trim back in.

 

Big thanks guys, did the job this afternoon. Found an easier way than taking off the deflectors and the whole trim. The part that needed repainting is rivetted on to the long trim panel so we simply drilled the rivets out, slid the black panel off and painted them on a bench. Re attatching them wasn't a problem as there are 4 screws that hold them to the long trim panel/car anyways. Not sure why they were rivetted in the first place. Still very pleased with the results and far easier to do than i dreaded.
