Question I want another Scooby!!!

its been a while and after a few years away from the beloved scooby, i'm pondering getting another. Apologies if I come across as a bit of a newbie, but it has been a while!!

I used to have an sti 4. Loved it and don't know why I ever sold it!!!

anyhoo, i've had a lease car that I have to give up at the end of this month and have been busy trawling through the for sale sections around the web. Most i'm prepared to spend is 12K at an absolute push. What should I go for?

Naturally i've got concerns over the changes in taxation, fuel prices etc, but more importantly reliability is key as I have heard too many stories about 'weak bottom ends' (guffaw).

so, do I go for a stock wrx, wrx sti, wrx sti ppp etc etc...soooooo confused ) thanks!!!

your answers will dictate my future happiness and whether I go the other way completely, and end up with a Prius ;o)

best time to buy one is now as the prices have come down so much. you could get a nice blob eye STI for around 10k easily. but i personally think a jdm sti blob eye.

i have a really short daily drive, so I don't need a monster of a car (also I doubt whether it would like ity that much). I'd love a JDM, but it will probably be overkill?

anything after 98. I'd even stretch to an sti5.

I'm in the hertfordshire area (nr Watford), if anyone is selling a loved one?

thanks

I just something that will make me smile, enjoy driving again, upset the wife, but above all, something thats reliable and dare I say it, practical! I'm sick of spending money on 'fixing' cars!

saying that it will have to be around the 300bhp mark )

Friend just bought a black 55 WRX. Its a UK car with 40 something miles and it cost her 10K.

Does exactly what she wants it to do.

I've had a UK Turbo so personally, I'm looking for something a bit special/rare. Plus its a 2nd car toy so doesn't have to be practical.

from a main dealer, £10,000 should get you:

1. Blobeye WRX with PPP:

2: Bugeye WRX-STI:
