sti uk questions
Hi,
Just looking to purchase a sti uk 0n a 53 plate its done 25000miles,just a couple of questions
1.what are the main things to look out for and common problems?
2.i used to own an evo 8 fq300 and to be honest was quite wary of launching the car as i did once and the smell of the bloody clutch!is the impreza the same or not as bad?
has any one made the same switch as me from evo to impreza how do you rate the 2 cars to live with?mpg and different between the 2?
Thanks Chris

Hi, mate common problem has to be the rear shocks klunking over speed bumps etc. Like most 4wd cars you'll get that nasty burning smell if launching from stand still. Never owned a Evo, mate has owned 3 V6 V8 V9 and he went back to Subaru, I get around 180-200miles of V-power out of £45.

anyone else made the switch?
usually how long do the clutches last? this is completly standard,
are there any special requirements to servicing like the evo the AYC oil change was the biggest thing where you had to take it back to the dealer for,or is the sti uk mainly oil, filters the usual stuff?

Evo 7 on had soft clutches to save the gearbox exploding.... my ex-boss had two new clutches and flywheels, after only two launches....
Don't slip the clutch and it is good for up to 400 bhp, some people can kill a clutch/gearbox in under 50,000 miles others can run for double that !
Subaru servicing is nothing special, but worth doing at a quality independant to save money.
As an old fart I regularly see 280 miles before the light comes on... however if it gets it's legs stretched it will drop far quicker (mine's at 340 bhp <this week>) worst ever 6 mpg on track !
