Default Paying for new car

Ok, I put a deposit on an 06 scoob last week over the phone.

Haven't viewed the car yet because its actually in Norfolk and I'm in London.
I am 99% sure of buying this... exactly what I've been looking for... but obviously the 1% is dependent on my test drive and inspection of the vehicle.
This will be done on collection of the car next week.

I am looking to pay the remaining by bankers draft.
But just wanted to know that if for any reason (Highly unlikely) I decided against the car, could a BD be reversed?

Or is the only option for me to travel up to Norwich and view the car this weekend before ordering the BD??

Just spoke to the dealership, they accept chip and pin.
So will probably use this method then, as it gives me the option to walk away if there's anything wrong

Will your bank let you make a single transaction for thousands?

I assume so, as long as there are funds in the account. But will notify them beforehand though.

That's how I paid for my Scoob (and for considerably less the Passat). No Chip and PIN back then either, just signed the receipt and drove away

Probably best to warn them though

I payed for mine with my debit card.

I phoned the bank before walking in to the dealers and it went through no problem at all.

be careful with a debit card payment - i did this with my current car from a main dealers and he wanted to charge me 2% for the transaction (i didn't pay it though)

some dealers make a charge on credit/ debit card payments over £500
