Default 2001 Bugeye WRX servicing.

Hi there, I am looking at buying a 2001 bugeye in the next few weeks, I just want to work out all the costs so I am prepared. I have had a search on here and can't seem to find the answers, I was hoping someone could help. I wanted to now the frequency of the service intervals and the round about cost of these. The car will probably have 40K, and I wondered if there were any major (expensive) services just round the corner. Cheers

50k is a biggie as far as I remember( I bought mine with the 50k done. That is the cambelt service. I dont know how much it will be but it will be cheaper from an independent garage. I have had a bugeye since October and although the looks take some getting used to, you will grow to love it! The servicing by the way is 10k or yearly, whichever comes first.

As said before the cambelt is done at 50K and with a service costs about £350 from a Subaru Steeler. Another biggie at 60K I'm affraid which involves plugs etc. Had my 60K service done a few months back at the steelers and it was around the £400 mark. Just remember to take into account the costs of insurance, road tax and petrol, not to mention if the modding bug bites. Then there's the usual yearly outlay for tyres and brake pads and disks, but this could be more frequent depending on how hard and how much you drive.

Still it's only money and you can't beat that feeling when you plant the right pedal. Go for one and enjoy it.

Thanks for the info guys, this helps me a lot. I am really looking forward to one of these, have wanted one for along time, but had a few sensible cars over the last few years because of the stupid house prices.

The cambelt is done at 4 years irrespective of mileage so it should have been done already

Howdy,

Bought my '01 WRX in November and just had it serviced at the dealer i bought it from. Although it had history i was a little unsure about the full details so went for the top service, cambelt etc (35K miles). all come in at under 400 with wipers etc. Love the motor and a great purchase.... just wish i never bothered with the porsche box that i had before the scoob!!!!

so what is the score with the plugs fellas? is it purely on a mileage replacement or is age a factor? i'm thinking i need to prep mine to be replaced during the next service (12 months away). mileage should be around 44k by then.

matty - loving the WRX
