Default Is it worth using a steering wheel lock?

I have been using a steering wheel lock for years and have never had a car stolen. However given that I have a new WRX with good? security system and tracker. Is it overkill to use one or does it still act as a deterrent?

any security device is a deterrent mate, it all adds up to making it harder to take your car..

Depends what lock it is. I used a Disclok and have never had any issues (touches wood).

Apparently they are very good the disclocks. As said above, its a deterrent. If a random thief walks past and it has that on, you would generally find they wont attempt it. Professional thief it's a different story. Look at it this way..." similar cars within 10 miles of each other. One has a disclock one doesn't. Which would they try and steel?

Stick a Disclock on it, Thieves tried to have my old Cavalier away when I took the Disclock off it and put it on the Scooby. They left the Scooby alone! The easier it is to nick the more chance someone will have a go at it.

disc lock takes around 45 mins to get off at full attack with electric grinder so even if bruce lee and arnie are nicking your car and you dont want to tackle them yourself the police might just make it in 45 mins ha ha

I've got one of these and they are great .... not that I'm a thief so wouldn't know how long it would take to break it but it looks the part and there's not many about.

They are compact and I don't even bother putting mine in the boot when off it just fits in the passenger footwell with the passengers feet over it.

I had a disclock before and it was very bulky.

My Disklock recently proved it's worth when I found a nice hand & face print on my side window (id washed the car the night before) ...found out 'they' had took an Audi a few doors down the road instead

I use a StoplockX, You'd be hard pushed to remove it without heavy tools

yes still use one.it acts as a visual detterent..but saying that,i have one on my car and some lads still try to steel it new year's just gone..it was only the dislock that stopped them from being able to turn the steering wheel and pushing it off down the road. Now ive gone a bit mad on security, uprated the Toad alarm to the best one,got a wheel clamp fitted to it,my dislock,a handbrake and gear lock..plus i got another car parked in front of it,also fitted with a wheel lock, and handbrake gear lock..It only takes a few seconds just to put a lock on,and can make all the difference..if i lived in South Africa id have them flame shooters fitted to the car aswell..Thieving Scum..
