Default Big end bearings ???

Sorry if this is a re-post but im going to look at a V reg Turbo 2000 with 90k full service history, and ive read about "Big end bearings" failing/breaking etc does this happen regular to scoobys or do the bearings fail through lack of servicing/to much abuse etc, or does it just happen to imports due to running the wrong RON fuel ? How would i know if the bearings on its way out, ie would it knock when im accelerating/decelerating/tickover etc ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated
