To do the conversion properly its gonna cost £5k plus

You will need the engine, turbo, intercooler, Fuel tank and fuel pump. All the wiring for this, which is basicaly a full car loom. Sti dials, 6 speed box, prop and diffs, brembo's front and rear and a fair few hours fitting it all.

You have a decent start though the subframe is the same, and if you didnt want to swap the gearbox, you could live with a wrx one upto around 350bhp.

But then again, spend £2k on your wrx and you have sti performance, and a lighter car so a faster car. Plus the ratios of you wrx box, will mean its slightly quicker through the gears.

cheers for that, basically i found out today my engine might be ****ed. the belt has turned it might have damaged the valves - I have to wait until next week for sure, but might need a bottom end rebuild.

thinking what would be the best option to go about this??

wrx engines fetch £600-£900 if that help's.

There certainly not as expensive as a sti block.

If it is knackered, i would get another wrx engine, and simply swap it over, using the good bits from your engine.

Could get the lot done for a grand.

I paid £1600 for a straight WRX engine swap when mine went bang but I didn't buy the cheapest engine offered to me and I had the clutch done too at the same time.....
