Default lambda sensor

I get a check engine light come on when i am driving at slow speeds but it is not always on.

I asked the guy i bought the scoobs from and he said its because the emmisions are to high. I have looked into this and it seems to be to do with the lambda sensor? is this anything to worry about? Bare in mind my scooby is full decat so the emissions are probs a little higher then they shud be which maybe the reason behind the chek engine light?

cheers

How can the ecu be expected to understand that some numpty has removed the cats ? So obviously it throws a CEL in protest.
Has the car been re-mapped ?

I would not have bought the car with a know CEL Fault. Get it to a specialist SOON and have the car checked over.

The mods quoted in "View My Scoob" may also be an issue, especially for your Insurance.

That just what the guy said. the fault never appeared until i was half way home and it hasnt caused me any problems yet.it only comes on every now and then its off most the time! Im not sure if the car had a re-map or not but the engine has been rebuilt by API about 10k miles ago. I thought the sensors would monitor the emmisions so if they are to high it might be the cause of the CEL fault, is this unlikely then?

how come the mods might be an issue, its my first scoobs soz for lack of knowledge!

If the lambda sensor needs replacing... aswell as the already stated problems, you're doubtless burning twice the amount of petrol than you would normaly need to... get it sorted
