Default Just a question for the Heirarchy.........

Now bear with me here. If say one of your "Sponsors" had, had a thread go on for 19 pages belittling them would it have been deleted/ edited to suit?

I dont know but then Len isnt a Sponsor is he? Hes just a down to earth Guy that doesnt get on here shouting about this or that, or have the fastest Impreza in the land. I think its outrageous that thread was aloud to go on that long. TYPE R i think you need some Testicular fortitude mate. You could at least have let him know you were having a sly pop at him.

.
Have you reported the post or thread using the methods available to you? ie the 'report post' button on the post?

After a thread or post is reported then it will be acted on... until then its pure chance...

<devils advocate>

It wasn't locked and/or deleted when the angry mob had decided incorrectly and for no good reason it was Zen (who are a sponsor) , so I doubt the assertion is correct.

Type - **** confirmed it wasnt Zen and the mods threatened to pull if anyone dare infer it was them.

So kinda rings true what FMS has said.

So the mods were aware but allowed the vultures to continue their asasination with only half the facts.

SN has become a very sad place, its such a shame it used to be a wealth of knowledge and had a fairley friendly atmos.

Now half the site seems to consist of trolls.

Just look at that thread 2 pages of support for Len then the bitching starts again is th average age of the snetter 12?

I really don't see why people get so wound up by trolls; there are soo many options to deal with them, perhaps the best of which is to simply ignore them!! If no one feeds them, they'll go, I assure you!!

As for the Horror story thread, there are some very balanced opinions in that thread as well as the usuall witch-hunt. All part and parcel of the community; you take what you want from this thread as you would any other.

The webby has stepped in where necessary, in other cases, people are entitled to their opinion. The misinformed/childish ones do a go job of identifying themselves and will be judged by intelligent members of the community accordingly!

We really don't need webby to point out when someone's opinion doesn't hold water!

I saw the original thread soon after it started and thought " I'm glad that's not me ". Reading on it was fairly obvious where it was going so I left it.
Seeing this thread I went back and read Len's post and some more of the others.
This forum is really not the best place for that kind of thread (at least not until the issue has been resolved or is beyond resolution). Running a business successfully in this day and age (thanks Tony) is no easy ride and with a niche market (eg. Subaru tuning/ repair) reputation counts for one hell of a lot. I don't know Type-r or Len and I am sympathetic to both of them, but whereas one has a wrecked car (which can be replaced) the other could end up with a wrecked life (sounds melodramatic I realise, but mud sticks).
I liken threads like that to leaving the pub on a Friday night and picking a fight with Stevie Wonder in the car park. You're gonna struggle to justify it to your friends later.

LOL Nice analogy!

To be fair, I don't think Len will suffer much/if at all as a result of that thread: he has EARNED the support of many customers, and that won't be negated by a single unfortunate incident with one customer that he has come on here and comprehensively explained and issued a public apology for.

Even Type R said he had enjoyed a good previous relationship with Len.

These things have to be viewed in context and any half way intelligent person will weigh up the good and bad comments about any garage before taking their car there. This is the first bad word I've EVER heard about S4U

The only prospective customers he'll lose are those who shout first and don't bother to think things though, and even the most reputable companies could well do without those sort of individuals.

The thread went on for such a long time because Type-R was strung on a long time.

It's OK now there's the two sides to the story out, but you never know the attitude etc that the conversations may have included.

A boy gets his car smashed up while in a garages hands, it takes months to sort and he is without a car that time and has probably ended up well out of pocket.

I think he's got every right to moan about it.

might be worth pointing out that insurance claims are never quick, mine took 3 months to sort even though nothing was in despute.

That's 2 threads now then

I agree,in the end i don't think it's done S4U any harm tbh and it certainly wouldn't stop me from going there.

I'm sure there are still facts that haven't come to light so as said above most intelligent people will have come to the fact there are 2 sides to every story. It's just a damn shame that it's come this far.

it wast type r who caused such a stir up, it was the rest of scoobynet, type r was asking for advice, which is what this place is for, both partys have come across and made their points very well now, it seems better communication is needed in future, this whole fiasco has pobably increases s4u's order books, so the only person who loses out is type r, so it would be better all round if this matter is dropped

Its quite logical to ask for advice, however i'd have thought this was straightforward enough.
He gives his car to garage and it they stack it. - unlucky, but what can the garage realistically do, other than pay for the repairs?

we'd all like to think our cars are worth thousands more than they are because
1. oooh, i'm only the second owner
2. it number 25 of 300,000
3. its only got xxxx miles

etc...

but the harsh truth of it is, its a fecking subaru, not a lamborghini.

i think Len put his put across well and i personally (my view) think Type R was out for some profit of some sort.
6k worth of damage???

we'll never really know, but from what others have said about s4u, seems its just bad luck and best forgotten, so everyone can move on and just hope something like this never happens again.
no one was hurt and cars can be fixed.

my tuppence

My point is would it still be going if it were a Sponsor yes or no !!! I dont think so. Im quite sure the Webmaster is aware if he hasnt seen the thread one of his mates would have. Len wasnt informed of the thread until about page 17 so hardly fair there.

So .. given the mods have not stepped in to prevent further and continued discussion that could be deemed libelous, would S4U be able to sue the new Scoobynet owners ?
