Evo MR300?
Right, what do you guys reckon the problem is with my mates EVO8 MR300?
Right we had a good old blast and it failed to catch and pass me at any point during a B road blast.
I drive a 95 WRX scoob circa 260bhp std apart from 3" stainless, his motor has been played with (mapped) and runs 1.7bar boost!!!!
Now in a straight line there is nothing in it and its that i find so hard to understand?
Any ideas? and yes he was quite grumpy given the cost of mods to his.
This is not a scoob vs evo thread so no hand bags or crap lol

1.7bar thats a lot isnt it.
he mite have a bigger turbo aswell and the lag on the b roads,
he should be a lot quicker on a straight either way.
a friend has a 04 330mr and its as quick as a tuned 05 sti with 343bhp.
similer power in each.
or maybe you have a sti engine in yours.

Power-to-weight
Evo VIII MR = 1490 kg, with 300bhp this equates to around 201bhp / tonne
WRX = 1270kg, with 260 bhp it's 204 bhp/tonne
Assuming the Evo has had around 40 bhp of mods, youre still looking at just 228 bhp/tonne.
Not exactly a massive difference, and very difficult to split them in real-world driving.

Its weird because mine is deffo std even run std airbox and paper filter only mod is 3" stainless. lol. boosts 0.8 bar, been heads up with an FQ320 as well he only pulled out when we got to 120mph on the track, also tried it out against a 96 STI and PPP 05 STI quicker than those too? got me puzzled .
