I wonder how that will go down with all the Clarkson worshippers on here.

Another nail in the coffin for the new car as well.

never take anything clarkson says for granted as his views change as often as the wind, he contradicts himself more than a politician caught having bondage sex with a goat.

Not that I would buy the new Impreza, and I am a fan of Clarkson, but this is the man who bought a GT40.

The Ford GT he bought was a rather nice car other than the fact it broke down all the time.......almost the exact opposite of the new STi then.

Whatever you think of him, he is the most well known motoring journalist in the country, who loves fast exciting cars and he finds the new sti, that everyone's been waiting for, ugly and boring.

Say what you like, it's hardly good news for the car is it?

a lightly melted Rover 25 with bingo wings
I think therefore you may have to be a bit dim to buy one. If you’re a Subaru fan with a full range of Subaru clothing in your wardrobe, you’ll probably love it.
made me chuckle

"But there’s another, easier way of establishing whether someone is two spanners short of a tool box. Just ask them this simple question: “Are you wearing a Subaru rally jacket?” Because if they are, you will need to speak more slowly."

I don't really like Clarkson any more

Pretty standard hyperbolic Clarkson fare.

Each to their own I say, but I must admit I've never really understood why people would wear branded gear to go shopping.

Middle aged men in Ferrari F1 jackets are my particular favourites!

I think he's pretty spot on and he's not the first to mention the Rover 25 looks. Clarkson has made a career out of winding people up though. Quite agree about the branded clothing and why does anyone in this country feel the need to wear a baseball cap particularly when driving a car?

Whilst I do find him amusing I have to agree with the above. This is the bloke who described the Cosworth engine in the Sierra as a mangy old mongrel when comparing it to the Audi Quattro turbo engine. He then went on to buy an Escort Cosworth himself.

I liked the Wife Swopping analogy JC used in this month's Top Gear on the STI.
His pal is on Holiday in Bermuda & gets invited to a Swingers Party.

His Wife is too keen on going & says her Hubby can go on his own if he can find a Partner to go with him.

So he trawls the Bars Seedy Night Clubs & after 2 days comes up with a Play Mate that will accompany him.

He admits she was pretty ugly but he thought, it's only a Swingers Party & I'll be swopping her, it wouldn't matter.

They get to the Party and a Bouncer with an FBI Earpiece says, "that won't do."
And shut the Door in his face!

"I choose my final words for the new Impreza carefully then, "THAT WON'T DO."

Regards

Remember - considering he's spent 50% (correction..80%) of that article bitching about Impreza owners, he always say's he likes them and would have one ahead of an Evo

Oh.. and he bought that GT40.. was always a nice move

But I did like the "makes honda's look like south american dictatorships"

Well it made me laugh out loud I've just emailed it to my Dad who is currently toying with the idea of chopping his current STi in for the new one. He also owns a Subaru rally jacket

i dont like the shape of this scooby, but Ive got a feeling this model (not just the sti) will sell well in the US where hideous cars and poor taste has always ruled the day.

I dont think Subaru are as stupid as many of us think

If Subaru starts making cars purely with the american market in mind thats just a downward spiral IMO. Maybe not for profitability, but the quality of their cars. It was the Impreza that made subaru what they are today in the european market so are they just going to throw that away?

Got to agree with this though:

I suspect the control panel is primarily designed as a talking point at Subaru owners’ club meetings.

But yes, Clarkson has said many times that he likes the cars, but thinks rather less of the owners.

Say what you like about him, but deep down you all know that this time he is right. This new Impreza is one of the biggets mistakes a car company has ever made.

As for them being reliable if my MY03 STI is anything to go by then I don't think so.

Back to Honda for me
