from a map eh?

and they dont get their readings from the cars speedo or gearbox then?

which doesnt then calculate its values from the circumference of the tyre, which isnt accurately measured by some bloke with a tape measure that was no doubt calibrated by the international bureau of measuring standards.

God, i jus thought it may interest you!

you can be such a bunch of arseholes sometimes, i didnt say anything apart from it was interesting.

You just have to give anything cossie related abuse, and not belive anything unless it makes a scooby sound good.

I didnt post this in a "look how fast cossies are compared to scoobys" way- in fact ive no idea how fast scooby in-gear times are.

If i saw those figures about a scoob, id be genuinley interested and impressed, not pick faults in it. The JUN scoobys for example- GoodLord they fast.

Even when im being friendly and helpful you lot wont have it...

what on earth do you expect?!
1 minute your spouting what tossers we are and how we are a support group for saying bad luck to ppl etc... Baiting all your m8's on the RS board to come here n post cr4p that is just annoying. I'm sorry if that makes me an 4rsehole.

and this ISNT general SCOOBY stuff... it SHOULD be in the Other Marques area..

Thumbs up

I like the Graham Goode 460bhp figures:

50-70 in 4th: 10+ seconds
70-90 in 4th: 4.6 seconds

a strong case for anti-lag!

What's interesting is the differences it shows between claimed HP and real acceleration: one of the 260bhp cars turns in figures better than a couple of the 350bhp+ cars ...

Mr. Steve3drRS,

You really shouldn't be surprised or offended when members of Scoobynet are not interested in information regarding a different car.
An awful lot of your posts seem to be comparing Scoobies with...whatever it is you're interested in, but to be honest, we just don't care.

There's no need to take it personally. Just take it somewhere more relevant.

Cool

Just to point out that the reason why the lower power cars will be quicker from certain speeds is due to the different turbo sizes, resulting in different spool up times. Also certain tuner's bhp figures are pit ponies, not horses and are CLAIMED bhp figures NOT dyno proven.

A T4 won't come on boost until 4000revs. Mine only makes 8psi at 3000 (184.0lbft / 105.0bhp), 15psi at 3520 (256.1 / 171.4bhp), but jumps to 33 by 3990 (396.1lb.ft / 300.5bhp).

However, where a normal car's torque would be tailing off at this point, a T4 equipped car still keeps climbing:
4520 = 411.9lb.ft / 354.0 (boost capped to 33psi),
5000 = 421.5lbft / 400.7bhp (34psi),
5510 = 409.8lbft / 429.4bhp (34psi),
6070 = 416.4lbft / 480.6bhp (34psi),
6540 = 405.1lbft / 503.8bhp (33psi),
7050 = 384.5lb.ft / 515.4bhp (32psi),
7530 = 358.9lbft / 513.9bhp (32psi)
(All figures achieved on Superfow SF901 engine dyno).

On the road and below 4000 revs a Golf GTi can catch you unawares if not stirring the gearbox. On track and open road is another matter...

I find it VERY disheartening to read such comments as I have on this thread, towards other members of the Scoobynet community (which doesnt mean they HAVE to own a Subaru to be part of it)!!!!

I can see no problem with this kind of thread, as it has been posted for general discussion within the community.

It hardly gives a "Warm and friendly" welcome to new members when you are personally ridiculed, soley because of the source of reference and the type of car you own.

If this had been by a Scooby owner, using Scooby references would of it received the same comments??

Come on chaps, we all have a common interest. Can we try and keep comments based on those facts.

Regards,
Shaun.

WTF is up with some of you lot??

What is the problem with this thread? I'll tell you what - blinkered up their own 4ss *****. I keep forgetting how superior some of you lot are

It's no wonder so many different clubs think Scoob owners aren't worth talking to.

Some people need to take a reality check.

Here here Craig, I don't think Steve's thread had any antagonistic overtones...In fact I haven't found any one of his threads offensive.

It is a shame people go away from here with a bad view of Subaru owners due to the narrow mindedness of a small minority of individuals.

I feel guilty for not reading the link now. No offence intended, steve, theer is no reason to leave on this account.

I would however liek to point out that most of the banter between imprezas and cosworths seems to be started by the cosworth boys when the reoc bbs is down!

Mike Rainbird,

Just out of interest, can you explain why the torque no longer follows the bhp when you get to that level of tuning.

I am just wondering what the physical reason is.

I have seen first hand that the skylines cant get the torque to match the bhp for long and it appears to be due to the stroke of the engine. Do you know why the cossie seems to tail off too?

Wink

Chill out and have a bud

I've read a few of Steve3drRS posts. I haven't found anything offensive yet. It's nice to see what goes on outside of Scoobynet.

What, theres something other than Scoobynet I must get out more

I wonder how Steve's car corners

(Edited to say that wasn't supposed to be a cheap shot to say that Subarus have better handling - merely saw the opportunity for the corner )

Quite a thread.

Some personal comments.
Criticism of various marques of car.
Someone trying to calm it all down.
Someone else trying to be PC.
What a waste of print. Now I remember why I don't read these posts usually. Off to the pub where the wrong comment at the wrong time ends up with a punch in the mouth.
How refreshing.

No harm in knowing what the enemy is upto. Never liked Escort RS's etc but when I was younger, I quite fancied having a Saph Cosworth or a Calibra Turbo. Then I saw the Scoob and knew I wanted one. Didn't know that I would ever get one tho.

Don't see why Steve has received his flaming. Friendly banter IMO. Have a lot of respect for big power Cossies. And I quite often paw over various ingear accel times for various cars and compare them to mine.
At times I find it hard to believe there are cars that can go faster in 1st and 2nd, but quite happily accept a good few models out on the roads would take the Scoob to the cleaners.
The Scoob is a performance bargin but it is not the last thing in speed.
A scoob could beat a Bentley Turbo R to a 100 from 0mph, but in gear where it counts most, the state room on wheels would just go to warp before you could change down.

P. (Probably rambling and not making much sense.)

I think MikeR explained that one.... (a strong case of the engine needing to be dyno'd LOL)

Compare those in-gear times to TurboSystems 435bhp car, very revealing.

Would be good to see Scooby comparison data, or other performance cars for that matter, as it doesn't matter to me what make they are - I like performance cars PERIOD.
