Default Forester Tuning info

Hi all, got some forester related questions that need answering and hoping some of you out there will have the answers!

I have a 2.0 xt forester, 54 reg.

1) Will impreza downpipe and centre section fit my forester?

2) Will impreza bonnet scoop fit?

3) Will WRX upgrade turbo fit?

4) Which turbo is fitted to my forester as standard? All i can see is possibly TF035HV??? (using mirror and torch )

5) Which coilovers would be good for fast road use? (max £650)

6) Engine bay looks the same as my mates bugeye wrx apart from my turbo seems smaller? Are they the same engine?

Thanks for any info you can give.

Cool, thanks steve. Not much you haven't answered!

Any advise on turbo choice/power output achievable without too much cash spending because will be getting 2.5sti conv eventually.

Only going for coilovers cause got self levelling shocks on back so would need to change them anyway, if anyone has any good experiences with spring/shock kits then let me know, cheers.

Oh yeah, do wrx 4 pots bolt straight on?

Bugeye Sti scoop is what you need, straight swap

You can pretty much put any WRX impreza suspension on (not the later Sti ones) including coilovers but it will slam you into the ground. Forester specific coilovers are hard to come by - AST do a kit but will cost you almost double your budget new.

You can get good handling gains just through putting on 18"'s with lower profile rubber and uprated ARB's (edit- just checked your profile and see yu got the whitelines already)

Would go for a TD04 - easily available cheaply second hand and will get you 280'ish with a panel filter and decat and ecutek tune.

Why would you get a 2.5 conversion later ? Would be much better to change now while your stock and get a 2.5XT imo

Don't really wanna change car. Handling needs sorting first. 2.5xt cost more money at moment and it would have to be black, with black leather etc. would end up spending big money tuning that too but do agree it would of been a better starting block. (Didn't intend on modding much when first purchased, it was traded in at work so got it right money, was lucky with colour!)

Agree with you on wheels/tyres, they will be sorted. arb's made big difference.

Anyone fitted wrx alloys to a forester? Offset is different, did you encounter problems?

I fitted loads of Impreza alloys to mine inc PFF7's which have an offset of et53, just need to watch out for rubbing against the rear struts. I fitted a 5mm spacer to be on the safe side but would have been ok without.
So in short any wheel suited to impreza 5x100 pcd should be fine..

Filter is the same as the Impreza - Sti panel one being a good choice

I spent 2 years modding mine and only changed it recently. On the whole most impreza stuff will fit, happy to help with any questions but as Steve say best get over to the europe forum on Subaruforester.org - loads of info just a search button away and loads of friendly advice
