JDM EVO 8 MR vs JDM STi 9 both running on 100 Ron Fuel
Which one would win in a drag race? ( evo 8 with hks jasma exhaust and sti 9 totally stock)
From standing start?
From 1st gear rolling?

Which Evo, i.e. running what power? Most likely the Evo as unless modified the Evo usually beats the Impreza in a straight line.

Here are 3 equally as useful races
Standard UK WRX (220bhp) vs a EVO X FQ500 running race fuel
STi Spec C Type 20 (370bhp) vs a Standard EVO 8 UK
STi Spec C Type 25(cossy 415bhp) vs a Standard EVO 8 mr JDM
Sorry to seem negative but these unbalanced comparissions are totally sh1te but Japaneese believe it's good PR
IMHO
Tony
BTW I'm not knocking EVO's

t5nyw i believe that the 2nd and 3rd race wre about equal i mean come on: evo 8 with sti v9 ( ok so the evo has the advantage cause of the exhaust and decat but how much difference (power gain) does it give you?
also so there is no way tpo get the burble?
btw i was thinking of fitting a greddy exhaust(TRUST) with a jasma certificate.... (note: not changing downpipe or manifold)

My JDM 06 STi
1)standard made 306bhp std on 100 ron map with 98 ron
2)standard made 329bhp with EcuTEK remap for 98 ron
3)Miltek Sports CAT system made 350bhp (257.5KW) and 460Nm with EcuTEK remap for 98 ron
BTW If you change the resonator (looks like a hot water bottle) LOL just before back box. will much improve the amount of sound

i think i will! thanks! btw you seem to think that i should have walked over the evo 8 jdm as for your first of the threeexamples you state underpowered impreza vs overpowered evo but in the other two you state overpowered imprezas vs underpowered evos?
the fact is that both of our cars were jdm running on 100ron fuel( im talking about the evo 8 NOT the evo 8 mr) and he had a decat and exhaust, so it was reasonable that he won, wasnt it? ( the race was very close though)

Dont go the decat route unless you are going to have the car remapped but these engines in the new age twin scroll cars are stronger than the older (and uk) cars, but they still dont like being decatted.
A miltek (sportscat) system would be a good choice though, one for you to think about.
Tony
PS, never had problems with FQ320's, my spec c was quicker without a remap

the race ended as following:
1st race evo 8 mr JDM(with hks jasma exhaust) vs Impreza sti hawkeye jdm = the evo won by a long distance
2nd race evo 8 jdm(not MR) with decat and exhaust vs the same impreza= impreza won
3rd race was the same as 2nd but the evo won but only for a bit
and the same happened at the last race...
i think im going to put an aftermarket exhaust too... what isyour opininon about decating it..???

(Presuming both cars remapped by the same remapper).
Hope this helps.

Cat back does not require a remap but the gains in performance from doing this are minimal. People mainly do this modification for the audio and visual benefits.

Firstly, an enhaust is significantly unrestricted by fitting something like a Milltek complete system with sports cat. You and I have identical jdm sti's 03/04 (for example). Your car has a remap with a decat exhaust, my car has a remap with, say, a Milltek sports cat complete exhaust system. Now both of us at the lights, or a long A road, the car you are driving will not be any quicker.

Hope this helps.

My point to the OP is simply changing the BB will not help performance very much, if at all.

Agreed but you said nothing about a sports cat in your post. The OP has a standard cat I believe? May be wrong. Hence why I stated either a decat or a sports cat (the latter is still slightly more restrictive obviously) and then a remap.

Thanks mate, glad you like. Mine is a UK spec by the way, not a JDM. Does the JDM come with the 2.5 engine? Don't think it does. The twin scroll is reportedly a better turbo but I don't think you will see those torque figures easily from a 2.0ltr.
