Default Servicing

Got my car booked in for it's 50K service on Wednesday. When booking it in I got a price of 335+vat, which I thought was ok from a Subaru Dealer. This is my 1st service with my Subaru, so was wondering if there are usually any additional costs that the dealer tries to charge for that I should be aware of?

Cheers
Scott

FWIW I wouldn't touch a Subaru dealer with a bargepole. I would go to a reputable independant specialist.

Why's that?

The car currently has full Subaru history and wanted to keep it going. I did think about an independant but price wise there wasn't much in it. It's booked in with Iain Grieve in Falkirk and I've only heard good things about them.

Was just wondering from peoples experience whether the quoted price covers everything or do they tend to add things on?

Because from personal experience and from anecdotal posts on here, main dealers are effectively instruction books followers. The follow the prescribed method of doing something, rather than using years of expereince of working on the cars.
Put it this way, if I had a choice of two cars, one with FSSH and one with FSH at Subaru4u or the Clinic etc, I would take the latter every single time.

Of course it's no necessarily a bad thing having FSSH, I just wouldn't go that route personally. Sorry to veer off-topic though.

Thats the same as I was quoted for my 50K at SG Petch in Richmond. I chose to go independent in the end for the reasons PeteBrant stated above. The car is much better looked after and its still using OE parts so my warranty is intact.

Cheers
