Does this only apply to new cars or cover all WRXs?

 

Be interested to know if this applies to "all" Scoobies. As you can bet they have done nothing to the engine etc. to warrent this.

If not... then a bummer on those of us who've bought UK WRX's in the past 12 months.

SUBARU STREAMLINES SERVICE INTERVALS

Subaru is streamlining its service intervals, resulting in significant running cost savings for both high and low mileage customers.

For example, typical servicing times over a four year period will be effectively halved. A Forester 2.0 litre owner will now pay only £225.28 for parts and lubricants instead of £536.44 (exc. VAT), while the labour time over 4 years is reduced from 15.8 hours to 8.6 hours.

Traditionally, all Subarus have required an initial 1,000 mile inspection/oil change followed by a minor service at 7,500 miles or 6 months – whichever arrived soonest – and a full service at 15,000 miles or 12 months.

It meant new car customers would face three dealer visits in one year regardless of the miles driven.

Now, the 6 month service has been eliminated and all naturally-aspirated 2002 Model Year Subarus will require a 12,000 mile/12 months service only, apart from the initial 1,000 mile inspection check.

Subaru’s 2002 MY turbocharged models plus the Outback 3.0 litre H-6 have had their service intervals extended to 10,000 miles or 12 months – whichever arrives soonest.

These running cost reductions follow an extensive evaluation of the ‘real world’ in-service record of current Subaru models.

Improved Parts Delivery Service

Meanwhile, in a separate move, Subaru and Isuzu customers and dealers will enjoy an improved parts and accessory delivery service from March 2002, with dealer consignments now taking place throughout the night.

Stock orders will be delivered to dealers every day with only a two-day lead-time. In addition, for urgent orders such as for vehicles off the road (VOR), Subaru and Isuzu parts can be ordered up until 4 pm, again with through-the-night delivery for availability next morning – a new initiative.

The result is enhanced service and convenience for customers and reduced stocking and improved cash flow for dealers. All parts and accessory deliveries will now be handled by Lynx Partsflow.

Commenting on the new, streamlined service intervals and upgraded parts delivery, Chief Executive Officer for International Motors Limited, Ed Swatman, said: "It all adds up to even better customer care combined with lower running costs. Both will complement Subaru’s already enviable reputation for strong residual values and inherent reliability."

Just spoken to local dealer who has an official communication. He is not sure whether it will cover my March 01 WRX, and is coming back to me.

Does that mean PPP in 2 days?

 

I hope this does apply to car registered 2001! I pick up my car on saturday, new car, on contract hire. the car was registered in december, I will ask the dealer (tileys) to confirm this with IM (who provided the finance).

Steve it's not gonna matter when it was registered, just what Model Year, is my understanding from the above text.

My dealer mentioned this to me a few weeks back, said I'd be issued with a new service book to replace my 'old' one (I have a couple month old MY01 '51' reg)...cool

I agree with Jza, I've a Y plate and will really not be happy is my service intervals can't be changed.

It would seem grossly unfair and also ruin our resale values!

Davyboy - I have done already, still waiting for him to come back. Suggest everyone does the same, the more pressure applied may make dealer network take notice.

 

About time too. Every 6 months was a pain in the 4rse and one of the reasons I sold my old scoob.

if the 15k was a full service then you would expect 25k for the next one!?

Where are these new service books coming from then ?

 

I just goy my MY01 WRX serviced today at 7500 miles. I could have waited another few months - bummer.

Good news though - I gather the timing belt doesnt get changed until 50,000 miles (45,000 miles previously). I am waiting for the dealer to tell me when I get the new service book.

Personally I'll not do 10,000 miles per year in the Scoob, but I'll not go 12 months without an oil change, I'll still do one every 6 months. I had a Mitsubishi that blew the Turbo cos I missed an oil change, and that was every 3,000 miles. I guess oils are much better nowadays, and keep their properties longer, plus Turbos are stronger.

 

I got mine in March and have done 19k! If I can move over then I'm going to potentially save a fortune!

 

RU Sure it's all bug eyes? The press release says:

Interesting, but my MY02 service book still says 7500/6mnth etc, if they were going to change it you'd think they'd have done it from the 1st MY02 off the line. Who knows?
