Default Licensed or Open Source Mapping?

Apart from price, whats the difference? Licensed stuff like ECUTek or Open source programs? I know a large majority of mappers use ECUTek, but there are other guys like Mocom who use open source mapping and get a lot of praise.

open source programing you can pretty much mod your own maps where as ecuteck is set. open source you datalog, and modify your maps to how the car is running.

Is Open-Source free?

All you need is a LapTop and program - mess about with the DATA as much as you like to get the same result as paying £££££££££'s to a mapper for?
