whats a safe power limit on stock internals?
as above really, quite new to this scooby lark and wanting to tune mine up a tad from what its already running
just wondered whats a safe limit to run on the stock internals of a uk model and also what mods ie fuel/oil pumps il need to keep it running safely at higher spec?
currently running full de-cat 2.5' system
hks induction kit
pro sport remap running 1.2 bar boost
wanting a fmic next, guessing il need a a decent fuel pump to go with that..probs a few other bits too.
any help apprciated

I guess a safe limit would be what Subaru tune it at - 215BHP
If you want to suffer TVR reliability - by all means take it higher.
If you want to kill its re-sale value - by all means mess about with it.
There ain't no free lunch in car tuning ........

Just ignore ps lewis m8, you wont get anything usefull out of him.
I was advised at the scooby clinic not to go past 330 bhp, but he had mapped cars to 400 on standard internals but he wouldnt recommend it.
Think at that figure you on the limit of the clutch and the box.
This is on a my99.

A member on here is running a minmum of 360ps ish on standard internals. Late Classic - So MY754 gearbox. We are supprised everything has held together. But it has with no complaints. It seems to be one of those cars that despite a very high level of modification just keeps on going.
Common thought is you are safe up to 320-330bhp.
After that well its down to if the car was a good one or a not so good one when it left the factory. It might go bang within months it might go on for a very long time.

The posters question was:-
"whats a safe power limit on stock internals?"
My opinion is that Subaru extract the maximum SAFE power out of their stock engines - therefore, the true answer to the question would be what I said ... 215BHP.

Pslewis, engineering factor of safety, google it. All engineering designs have them built in. If you want more from a Scooby Engine it is possible to get it safely, but how far you go is the question. The more you push for the smaller the margins of safety and life of any component will be. It is a fundamental principle when designing a device to allow for excessive loads. IF (and is a big if!) I recall correctly on things like bridges it is 3 time the Max. working load. Not sure as to Motor components though....... long time since I did my Engineering Btec HNC at Bridgwater Collage!!

Pete the UK cars with 215 bhp were this low because of emissions restrictions and less about engine safety.
