Welcome aboard, have a test drive in the sti before you buy the wrx, a lot of people that buy the wrx start to wish they had gone for the sti, this way you will know what you will be missing if you buy the wrx, I'm not saying the wrx is not a good car because it is, but the sti is just so much better, but which ever car you choose I'm sure you will enjoy the way a subaru drives. regards Dan.

There doesn't seem to be any problem with buying an import, except that it'll be worth a bit less than a UK one when you sell, but the initial saving more than makes up for it. I expect a main dealer wouldn't like one as a trade in.

Some people have had problems getting them serviced by a main dealer, but ther is no reason why. If you do, then go somewhere else or to a specialist.

As for colour, it is obviously a matter of personal taste. I went for grey as I think it looks classy. Personally, I think blue works much better on an STi with gold wheels than a WRX. When I bought mine, aqua was an import only colour, so is rare, but makes it obvious that its not a UK model.

You will need to fit a Cat 1 alarm and locking wheel nuts if your supplier doesn't do it for you.

As for trying an STi first; yes, there are a lot of people who upgrade from a WRX, but I'm more than happy with mine and prefer the sublety of a WRX. It is easy to get STi beating performance from a WRX if you want it. Also a WRX does 25-30mpg and a STi does 20-25mpg which, along with insurance etc does make it a more reasonable car to run.

Hi mate, I bought an import WRX from Motorpoint, had no probs with it, Subaru happy to service it etc.

You will usually get the remainder of the 3 year warranty, as the clock starts ticking on it when the original PDI is done to the european dealer, so its important to check the date this was done prior to buying.

Colour, I was gonna get Urban Grey, then decided Obsidian Black in the end

Requirements once bought or from the dealer, Cat 1 alarm (as above) and a tracker of sorts to satisfy most insurers. Locking nuts too. (as above)

As for the STi, I am happy with the WRX having never driven the STi, the old blinkerd view of dont know what im missing saved me money lol. But engine work can solve that, at the possible cost of your warranty.

MPG will depend on what you do and where, drive heavy footed, expect 20mpg lol

Good luck with the purchase
