Default KEY NOT WORKING

Morning all,

My ignition key just stopped working it wont lock or unlock the car when depressing the button.

Its not the battery cos I changed that for one that I know works.

I think the key might be knackered or could it have lost the code???

Any ideas or do I have to just contact the dealers and probably pay a small fortune for them to replace it?

Thx

Ronnie

Depending on which model car it is, and alarm, there is a way to 'reset' or 'resync' the fob to alarm

Thx all.

Contacted the dealer based on what you've said.

Going to take it in and they'll "re-code" it. If that don't work there gonna give me a new key - FOC

I've had that experience several times (Classic UK Turbo) when near or around airports. Alarm frequency is interfered with and remote does nothing. I have had to push car around corners and out of the way before it starts! Weird but true!
