Angry Rust Spots on Bootlid?

Noticed yesterday rust bubbles coming through on the bottom of the bootlid, certainly wasn't expecting this on a car that's only four years old with the bodywork in excellent condition in general.

Checked up the anti-corrosion warranty in the service book and it's for six years, however, you need to get the bodywork inspected and the book stamped at 12 months and 36 months.

Needless to say, this hasn't been done, so it looks like I'm paying for it myself.

How much do you think I'm looking at to put this right? Can this be repaired so it won't come back or is it better to replace the boot altogether?

Anyone had similar problems?

I would take it to the dealers anyway see if they will honour the repair under the anti corrosion warrenty, you have nothing to lose & the dealer may have forgot to stamp the book for the checks

Dealers charge a ton (from memory and going back a bit) or so for each of the body inspections and are quite pedantic about it, if you have not kept up the scgedule (and you are not alone by any means) then unlikely to be covered unless you have a very, very good realtionship with 'em.

Sounds like more than surface rust. if surface rust then get it treated and resprayed,If actual 'tin worn' holes then i would replace and get it wayoyled or such like

That's wierd on a 4 year old Impreza.

I've had 3 Impreza's all classics, an My93 which was 11 years old when i got it, and 2 My98's which are approaching 10 years old none of them had or got a spot of rust or any sign of bubbling.

I'd take it straight back to the dealers ..
