You have to pay to search!!!!!!
I havent got a scooby anymore but like to visit the site to see how old friends are getting on etc and talk about a car that I still have a lot of love and respect for, I cant see how I would benefit by signing up to be a member just to use the search facility. The search button was a great way to find old posts and info on Subaru's!!!!!!

As mentioned you can still search for free and instead of complaining and moaning maybe you'd like to share in the cost of running the site.

is that why the charge is introduced? i thought it was to lessen the burden on the server so 'proper' members would enjoy a faster search. btw, the 'complainers & moaners' are people that make up the forum, and apparantly are not happy, so it looks like the server load will be lessened anyway when they go elsewhere. i hope the gamble pays off for you.

1) You can still search for free.
2) There are plenty of forums on the net who cost nothing to run, we're not one of them.
3) We're talking about a ONE OFF fiver, not £100's a year!
As others have mentioned. Either use the free of charge search, or pay up and enjoy the fact that a) you're supporting the site that supports you, b) you can use the normal search, and c) you get some extras at the same time.
As for gambles paying off, and "how pathetic is that" comments. You guys really should learn to read things before posting drivel.
