Default TWIN SCROLL TURBO

Hi Guys,

Could do with a bit of help. Would a SPEC C Twin Scroll turbo fit onto my MY05 STIppp. If so what other bits and bobs would I need to go with it plus is it worth doing apart from the early spool up. Plus where does the turbo start to kick in? I've just found a Jap import place that has them going for about £375. Early stages yet but I don't know if its worth going for. Plus I take that I would need a Remap with that new turbo

Thanks,

Alex

Steve it depends what you are using your car for,for me its trackdays so the twinscroll hybrid wins hands down.

well for me i just like a car sitting in the garage i do not think my gt30r is value for money but compared to my hybrid twin scroll it's in another league !! just to give an example i once drove my car into AS performance and told alyn my car didnt feel that much quicker on a gt30r as compared to my hybrid twin sroll !!

it was easily resolved ?? one of my spark plug leads had come loose so i was only running on 3 cylinders !! and i swear on my life that was quicker than a hybrid twin scroll turbo running 1.8 bar

Alex, you would need to replace most of your engine to fit a twin scroll turbo, for the sake of it, its not worth it, as for the difference in single/twin scroll
In some ways I agree with Steve, in others with Gussy
Single scroll technology is greater than that of twin scroll, you can get bigger single scrolls, so to a point a twin scroll will be better then for even more power the single scroll takes over, it wont always be this way though as more and more twin scroll hybrids come out they will rule but its also about power delivery and refinement, you get much better delivery and refinement with a twin scroll than you do with a single scroll

I will be selling my headers, up and down pipe and possibly the turbo off my Spec C in the coming months so keep an eye out in the classifieds.

You know it Gus.

Gotta get round to booking myself in to get the AP's fitted first, then it's a few power mods after that.

So what turbo is "THE" bolt-on twin scroll turbo on the market today?
I currently have a VF36 on my 2.0l JDM STi MY04, and I'm now looking for something with a slightly better topend. Obviously it would be nice to keep that twinscroll lowend grunt as well... Last dyno session resulted in around 375 for both bhp and lbft, so it would definitely have to give more than 400bhp to be worth the upgrade.

One option would be to change to single scroll, and put on the Deadbolt SZ49 I have waiting on the shelf.... does anyone have any experience with the SZ49 on a 2.0l car? And what about keeping the JDM headers, I rwad somewhere that Powerstation would be selling an uppipe to fit the JDM headers and bolt on a single scroll turbo? How much might that pipe cost, and are they available from somewhere else as well? Sure I could ask Powerstation directly, but I know you guys have done that already.

Soooo many questions. Now let's hear your comments.

Miki,
Our Project Spec C has been converted to single scroll via a replacement up-pipe fabricated by PowerStation and Miltek. This is not your normal Garrett flange to turbo up-pipe, but one that fits the standard Subaru housing. All depends on what you want, but Powerstation can do both for you. Read the Article on Stage 3, to find out what we did. https://www.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-...stage-3-a.html

Does anyone have any further comments on the PE1825F? The same twinscroll turbo seems to have been discussed on this forum already 5 years ago, so I guess a few of them has to have been installed by now....

POWER ENTERPRISE USA

The big question being, is it worth changing to this from a VF36? Very expensive unit it seems, although the dollar is cheap at the moment.
