New person alert!!!
Good afternoon everyone hope you are all having a good day?
My name is Dave obviously and i'm 22 living in sunny Stoke-on-Trent (well not so sunny at the moment).
I've been looking to purchase a brand new WRX as i can't afford to stretch for a STI. I have a test drive on Saturday morning to make sure it's what i expect before i take the plunge and hand over my hard earned cash.
A few things i was just wanting to know before i go ahead on Saturday is, are there any real issues with the WRX model? i know it will have warrenty but i would prefer be driving it than getting it fixed. Does the Prodive pack make a real noticable difference and also what is the general opinion of the car? Obviously i will make my own mind up when i take it out but it's good to have something to take along with me.
Thanks in Advance
Dave

Afternoon Dave.
Yes the PPP will make a decent difference.
TBH, I'd rather get a second hand STi than a brand new WRX. Some still have warranty and to purchase an aftermarket one is no big deal.
Cheers
Matt

I got similar replies when I first asked this question many moons ago
Sometimes on here it seems like there are quite a few 'ScoobySnobs' who have taken a dislike to the WRX and only have an interest in the STI. I'm not like that and that's why I bought a WRX, plus I wasn't keen on the gold wheels, big scoop and blue interior (which looks strange inside any car other than a blue one in my opinion).
I test drove a new 06 WRX and was quite impressed but at the time preferred some of the design features of the 04 model so ended up going for one of those instead, plus I saved £3k which was nice
Have a test drive of a few, but don't be led to believe the STI is the only Impreza to have.

Welcome!
From your neck of the woods originally. Glad to hear the weather is as bad as here.
The only problems with the WRX is that you'll wish you bought a STi.
I would test drive both models, see what you prefer. As someone else said, i'd rather have a 2nd-hand STi than a new WRX. But a WRX might be your bag.
Yep, the PPP is very effective on a WRX, makes it similar in a straight line to an STi.

The WRX is an import and a £1 short of 15k, this is 07 with delivery miles, an STI is just a step to far for me regards to insurance with only being a youthful 22 lol.
In 3 years time when warranty is up then will be the time to upgrade to a STI. Don't get me wrong i would love an STI now but i will be using all spare funds and to me there is more to life than me just funding a car.
Either way i don't think the car will be a disappointment but i will see on the test.
Thanks for the welcome to people.

I bought a new 06 WRX last year and have not looked back since, I had the choice of that or a ex demo STI in the older shape. I didn't buy the car for outright speed or flying around corners as I have a young family, I bought it becuase I wanted a new car that would not stretch my bank account and also be afforable to run (well part from fuel consumption that is). Don't get me wrong I would love a new STI but like you there is more to life, god my wife would love to hear me stay that!!!!

I got my impreza at 22 too
why not get an almost new WRX with some warranty left?
You should be ok with the warranty, but don't forget fuel bills, servicing, and you'll be paying £300 tax on a new car (£400 next year). Looks like you've already checked your insurance

Hi there thats two from S-O-T, thats good to hear, i'm from Trentham how about yourself?
I've taken into account the running costs and if i went WRX it would leave me comfortable with money, if i push for an STI it will leave me not so able to go out and about for day trips on the beer etc... so i feel the WRX is a better option for me.

There is practically no difference in running costs between the wrx and sti, including insurance.
You could get a 04 plate sti with PPP for £13.5K easy. Trust me, if you buy a wrx, you'll wish you'd have bought an sti!
