I'm after a quieter 3" exhaust, the current one wakes up my 6 month old baby, which would you recommend? and would just a back box quieten a full decat system or would I have to go for a sports cat to? The cars a MY05 Sti.

Milltek Sport 3inch decat system - quiet on tickover and cruise but nice sound when opened up and more importanly works very well.

Just a backbox will quiet a full system to some extent, backboxes still make the single biggest contribution to noise. A sports cat will be quieter than a decat, and a resonated system will generally be quieter than a non-resonated.

Other quiet 3" systems that spring to mind are revolution, APS.

 

I've recently purchased a Blitz NUR Spec RX exhaust for my car....and it is absolutely perfect.

I have had noisy exhausts in the past, but since acquiring a shop/cafe, I need to leave the house at 6am, and the neighbours were starting to look at me like I'd kicked their dog due to the noise in the mornings.

The NUR Spec RX is a quieter version of the Blitz NUR Spec R system that they do, and is Jasma rated, with the noise it produces being under 96db. It still produces a lovely burble, but doesn't annoy anybody. I've been through 4 different exhaust systems, from Kakimoto, through titanium sti to Magnex, and nothing comes close to this. The pipework is 80mm.

I have it mated to a Zero-Sports Sports Cat downpipe....and I think it's perfect.
