Default Quick response required please

I've just done a HPI check on a vehicle I will be buying tomorrow. It came up with the alert below.

Alert Details
Plate Transfer
The current plate was transferred to this vehicle on 05/05/2005

K2*** was applied to this vehicle on 10/11/2004
This VRM has been recorded as having an outstanding finance agreement
An outstanding finance agreement was recorded on 18/09/2006 against a TOYOTA HILUX DIESEL INVIN
Can somebody confirm that I'm reading the information correctly. As I see it, the current reg (**54 ***) is a standard one and the one listed above (K2***) is a private reg. A previous owner must have had the plate on a Toyota with finance hence the alert. The system is alerting me out of curtesy as the finance is not linked to the car itself.

Am I right in thinking that the finance is not linked to the car itself but the reg that is on another vehicle? Please put my mind at rest.

I would wait til you can speak to someone from HPI tbh mate, unless there are any experts.

Sounds like your right, but only HPI can tell you if their promise stands based on the info provided.

The Check does say that the current VRM does NOT have outstanding finance so I'm sure its okay. I'm sure you can't have outstanding finance on a number plate but I would like confirmation.

Missus feels it sounds about right.
Can you confirm you are not actually buying the Hilux that the plate is on.

I'm quite happy about it. I'm not buying the Hilux at all. The outstanding finance wasn't even recorded until 2006, the year after it was removed from the car.
