Just to clear this up....

The username was banned because of our T&C's for commercial advertising:

a)It was a commercial Username
b)Commercial content in profile
c)Commercial posts had been made with this username

Why Renton says he did not understand why he got banned is a mystery. When we ban people we are able to give a reason why and this is displayed when the user tries to log in again. The reasons were given as above and I said that Renton was more than welcome to register a new account as long as he did not break any of the T&C's. I also said that if he wanted details on advertising he could contact me.

I must admit, it's a bit weird that this was sufficient to get column space in a magazine.

Aaah just spoke to Dan and got the lowdown on it.
Guess its just common practise to use usernames like that without thinking these days. The amount of accounts they have had between them on forums and all that lol.
Can see where you guys are coming from for sure. Is he allowed back with a modified username ? Nice to have mags pop in, and get a mention in return from time to time

It's the "redline" bit that IS commercial.

That would be like having "Shaun - thisismycompanyname" or "thisismycompanyname - Shaun".

Aaah so it was the Redline bit, I thought it was the sort of making an email address of a user name.
Thats a bit clearer now, thank you Shaun Not that it any of my business, but decent of you to explain non the less. Fair play.

Guessing the whole name association thing is better for people realising who they are, and being able to relate to them etc. But see the other side of it too.

My comment was in the "This month we will be..." column.
My exact words were "...being banned from Scoobynet.co.uk without warning or notice!"

That was my point. At least give me the opportunity to change my username rather than just banning me! I'd been registered since mid 2005 so I must say I was a little confused when I tried to log in. I understand rules are rules, but I didn't even know I'd broken them!
I just register as Renton wherever I can, but on here and the GTR board that was taken by someone else - hence me just adding @******* on the end...
