Default DANGER AREA ON STI?

Hi! I'm looking at buying a 1999 v5 type r with 330 bhp! it on its first engine and 60,000 miles, wot do i need to look at to make sure its a fit car and not going to go pop! wot about body as well? thanks greg

Look for the usual, FSH, regular oil changes, receipts to back up the history, MOT's, smoking turbo, panel damage (distorted panels and discolouration of the paintwork) chassis and engine number is the same as that on the V5, who remapped the car (after you have gone though the list of seeing whats up with the car).
A professional check is probably your best bet, either a speciallist or a subaru dealer that services imports, though if the owner declines id walk away.
