Can anyone tell me if a centre console out of a 2000 car will fit a 96 car

doubt it personally. i believe the dashes changed totally in 1998. my old 95 wrx had a much different dash to my current 99 uk turbo.,

Short answer, NO.
Only way it could be done is by changing the entire dash as well which then leads to new front door cards and so on.
The job has been done many times but it really is a PITA to do and requires a good amount of electrical work for the joining of the looms.
