After taking my scooby to the garage for its 10k service, they have advised me that my pads are 80% warn and the discs have hair line cracks. Ok, I have taken it round the Nurburgring, but I was surprised to hear that a car that is less than 6 months old needs new pads and discs (according to the garage). My questions are:
1. Has anyone else had this trouble with new cars?
2. Do I go for the Subaru Upgrade (£575.00 - still the 294mm discs)
3. Do I go for the Prodrive upgrade (£1,600.00 - 330mm discs [Alcon made])
4. Do I go for AP Racing upgrade?
5. Do I just get after market 294mm discs and pads?

Any advice and help would be greatly appreciated.

If your going to do trackdays then the AP's are the obvious choice for road use I would have thought the Brembo's would be fine.

hi smifster, took my 2.5 wrx to lexus subaru dealer after hearing a slight rubbing on the rear discs constantly whilst driving. dealer has told me that they are corroded and pitted ! i have owned car since sept and done 13,000 miles. i run the car regular but not on track so dont really know why they are corroded. dealer has put a p.w.a request form in for me to carry out warranty work. currently waiting for an answer off international motors as to whether or not to authorise the work. hope this helps.

Thanks mate. I spoke to the garage and they told me that changing the pads and discs wont effect the warranty. I have decided to go for the Black Diamond G12 (Groved) Discs with the Ferodo DS2500 pads. Got them at a really good price from Subaru 4 U in Newbury. (Virtually the same price as if I went back to a main dealer to get them to put standard discs and pads back on!!)

I have a 05 STI and it was serviced last week. Got informed that not only was the front pads worn down, but the rear discs had gone !!

Luckily they are getting replace under warranty, but I'm having to buy new pads all round. Dealer price was £380. Have just recieved front and rear DS2500 pads from AS Performance this morning. £210 delivered.
