Your Bank Balance will be less I would imagine ..... oh, yes, the replacement clutch will not be as good as a standard Subaru replacement.

Don't do it!!

Pete I take you have you driven a car with an exedy clutch to make such a statement?

I run a Exedy uprated clutch and it's a vast improvement on the OE clutch. The pedal is lighter than the OE and much nicer to use, my wife drives the car and even she noticed how much easier the pedal was to depress.

Well, in that case - if you have difficulty pressing the standard clutch I would recommend an Exedy Clutch for the disabled

I'm just wondering how you know the exedy one is not as good as the oe one. Unless of course you have driven both and compared them. Have you driven both to make such a statement ?

As I tried to make clear - Subaru have tested all the clutches and types out there for me - they spent ££££££££££££££££££££££££££'s finding out which was best.

I will abide by their decision and fit what they sell me as the best all round option for their vehicle.

Subaru will fit the one that works ok, not the best.

Other than being lighter is there any performance increase, for example is it stronger ?

surely cost is a factor when Subaru decide what to fit, if they fitted the BEST everything how much would a car be to buy

Subaru clutch replacement lasted me 3 months

Exedy - well 1 year

Have you worked in the Car industry (any of the main car companies)? Well you will find that a very small percentage of any research goes on just one car component (you will find that the car component suppliers do a whole lot more research on their part than the main car companies). Next they will have basic standards that each part must meet. After that it's the cheapest that can satisfy those standards (in general) that they will choose and most definately not the best or your car would cost a whole lot more than it does ... . Yes I have worked directly with Honda, Ford, Toyota, Volvo, Jaguar, zzzzzzzz and they are all the same. Most in fact will demand that the component supplier gives a year on year decrease in the price of the product or similar cost saving exercises. The best are not generally OEM parts (unless your car is a Ferrari, Bentley, Buggatti and similar and even these can be improved on).

I thought Exedy made the OEM clutch anyway just badged up for subaru.

I have an API uprated exedy clutch and agree with whats been said. Much easier to use, better pedle feel, No clutch judder when cold unlike the standard clutch plus it will take more power.

I've just had an Exedy clutch fitted. It wasn't the organic one but the Exedy version of the Subaru standard clutch. First thing I noticed was that the pedal is much lighter compared to the standard Subaru clutch I had in before before. Secondly, there was a horrible judder when the clutch was on the bite point at lows revs. This judder had ceased completely after about 30miles of use. Hope this is the type of info you were after especially as I've just had clutch fitted you're looking for on a Classic T2000 UK.

No Judder for a start!! Worth the extra price over an OE clutch.

It's nicer to use!

It's MUCH stronger. A std clutch probably wouldn't last on a car with much above 280 lbs ft torque.

I just paid £511 fitted with a skimmed flywheel and uprated exedy clutch (including vat) i thought this was very good and the results are very pleasing. This was carried out at 'Extreme Scoobies' in boreham essex.

hi all i had a excedy clutch fitted at christmas and to felt the lighter pedal. so far have no slip at all although latley i have felt a slight judder when stone cold. this may have something to do with the flywheel not clutch as i had a skimmed flywheel installed at the same time because i had only just bought the car and was low on funds (might live to regret it!!!!!) anyway i paid £180 for both delivered to jersey not bad i thought, especially when black diamond were around £350 just for the clutch.

I had an Exedy clutch fitted on my old car and it was MUCH better than standard. The better clamping force improved acceleration and it felt a lot stronger than the standard one

Just had an API-supplied Exedy organic uprated clutch and one of their lightened flywheels and there is a huge difference in the feel of the car compared to my old AP 'Formula' clutch. Much lighter in engagement, it's like driving my wife's Yaris. In fact, it's lighter than that. But somehow it's able to take whatever punishment I've been dishing out at over 300bhp.

Something which wasn't obvious before purchasing is that the API-supplied Exedy is not the same as the ones on ebay which are uprated (pink box). The API ones are better according to API, and I can't disagree -I've been happy with their gearbox build they did for me last year, and yet again I'm very happy with their clutch and flywheel. Plus I know if anything goes wrong, I'll have some comeback, which you pretty much don't if you buy from many other places.

I'm entitled to my OPINION and I will damned well give it .... it is what I truly believe that standard OE Components are the best bet!! And I will continue to voice my opinion!!

Tell me, oh wise one, how is stating to fit STANDARD SUBARU PARTS misleading?? You are making yourself look REALLY stupid!!

YOU may state that a re-mapp should be carried out if someone changes petrol station - that, to me, is misleading advice ...... how would YOU like it if I said STOP GIVING THAT ADVICE!!??

On the matter in hand, the clutch feels lighter I would imagine because the old worn clutch had got 'heavy' which is what they do as they wear.

This is the misleading advise you give plus you have no proof in what you say, which amounts to slander i would of thought.
