Default people moaning about my exhaust

where i park my car most of the time, (privert car park) the people in the houses next to it are not happy form what i have found out today.

i was doing some work on my car, and started it up for around 1min max, about 5mins later a lady came around and said she and other people were fed up with the noise that my car makes, and a couple of people have taken my reg etc.

i all ways drive solw into the car park etc, as it is down a very tight lane/entrance.

what should i do, what would you do?

it is a classic with blitz nur spec r with decat down pipe

I wouldn't worry. We've got the same kind of set up where we live....a mix of ordinary people and coffin dodgers.

Since nextdoor got into KTM's (with the worlds noisiest exhausts) and bought his Gallardo they moved on from moaning about my Prodrive exhaust.

I don't think my neighbour makes things any better my sitting outside the ring leaders house at 8am on a Sunday morning "warming up" the Lambo

if its down a tight lane/entrance your exhaust is going to sound louder as the sound waves bounce around more.

Then sit back and listen to the zorst purr with no come backs..

Swap it for a 5Zigen. park up next to their house, rev it a few times and watch cracks appear all over there house!!!!!!!!

This is one of the reason I love about living in the country, Only have one neighbour and it's to far for him to walk to complain!!!

Thumbs down

Blitz and HKS are IMHO, over the top. I had a Scoobysport on both of my Imprezas which although having plenty of character, didn't make everyone listen to it.

There's a 106 on my road with a daft exhaust on it. Does everyone think, "What a lovely noise, he must be a real enthusiast?". No they don't!

the narrow lane bit, is the entrance about the length of a small house, then it opens up to around a 30-40 space car park.

its is all owned by by boss, so it is a privert car park, for staff and work cars etc.

i can see there point, but i drive in nice and slow (lots of stones etc) and keep it ideling for around 20-30 secs.

and you can hear all kinds of cars/exhausts going up and down the high street all the time.

i put the bung back in today, to try and keep the peace.

i do not use my car every day, prob every couple of days, and around about 2pm, so no bad times of day.

on a bad note, my little girl doesnt like it with the bung in, and loves the noise it makes :-)

Tough **** on them basically if you use it at 2pm it's not like you're waking them up (unless they are night shift workers).

i start work at 6am and dont use it for work, so it just sits in the car park, and i only really uses it to go to tesco, rents house, etc etc. i could understand it to if it was vvvv late at night or vvv early in the morning, but it is just normall times during the day

Mate your exhaust isn't that loud - maybe you should ask rob or danny to park around there and show them what a loud exhaust sounds like!

In that case do they have a case i dont think so just bought a blitz + centre section for my sti had one on my wagon and this one sounds even louder. Same as you though i only use this for social and pleasure so the times im out and about to are sensible.

Seems like people want everything their way, well thats tough2pm is not an anti social time of day as far as im aware

I'm always worried about seeming a bit of a yob - Classic '99 with a decat centre & scoobysport (janspeed) backbox, and I leave work stupid times in the morning as I work shifts, and often get back in the wee hours when I'm on nights. Asked the neighbours either side and they said they were never woken up by it, so that's good.

Have to agree Steve, I have a H&S original scooby design on mine and it sounds lovely and turns heads. The difference is when the heads turned it's followed by a 'thumbs up' gesticulation rather than a 'Cocktail, sir?'

That said, to be fair to the poster, if he is being otherwise considerate, not reving the engine, starting the car at unsociable hours, leaving it on the drive switched on for ages etc... then it wouldn't hurt the neighbours to turn a deaf ear. If one of them is working nights or whatever, then a quiet word is all that is needed and I'm sure this could be negotiated in a friendly fashion.

Runabouts with tunnel diameter exhasusts are just daft. The reason you can get away with a more fruity exhaust on a Scooby is that you're amplifying and accentuating a nice noise. The Corsa/Nova etc.. brigade just sound like amplified farts!

Reminds me of a woman on our road, she always used to give me dirty looks when I arrived home, then decided to start complaining when my Stepson acquired his Mini

She stopped when another of my neighbours pointed out that at least he was coming and going under his own steam, rather than with a 'police escort', as her own son was wont to do in his youth

Ive got the same problemo matey

Only had the car 3 weeks, it's got a Blitz nur spec on it & ive had the neighbours over complaining already, the noise is ridiculous, it wakes us up
lardy dardy dar ..................... F**k know's why there sleepin in the day.

Fair enough, i leave for work @ 7.45am but aside from that its always sensible hours & i even let my turbo cool at the peti station down the road so it doe'snt have to idle after coming in.

I had the bung out after buyin it, but now it's always in when im around home so at least im making a bit of an effort.

At the end of the day, ive been wanting a scooby for as long as i can remember & there's no chance of me taking off my Nur spec
cause i live next to Mr & Mrs moany bollocks,
their gona just ave to live with it
