Default new age type uk against jap sti

is there any way other than the badge of telling a new age type uk from a jap sti?? when going to view one, as people may get sneaky and put on the type uk badge.

thanks

There should be a few clues tho im sure other members will correct me if wrong.
All JDM

1) back window sare sometimes darker with tints form the factory
2) rear fog light might be an after thought
3) back window wiper
4) different alloy BBS ones with JDM?

They might have just taken the badge off the boot?

The Intercooler should also say TYPE UK across it as-well?

Could be a euro import. Identical to the type UK except the badge, only has STi badge. otherwise the same.

Euro import comes without. Others remove it. I've just an STi badge on the back.

Just check the chassis number against lists. The first 3 letters distinguish whether its jap or euro etc.

JDM's Have Electric Wing Mirrors Aswell. Front Strut Brace Is Also A Standard Fit Item On A JDM I Think, For Some Reason They Left It Off The Type UK, Also You Get HID's On A JDM & If You Really Want To Be An Anorak About It , The Tail Lights On A JDM Light Up Differently. The Round Bits On The Rear Cluster Light Up When Your Lights Are On As Opposed To The Outer Section On A Type UK & Finally You Get A Little Credit Card Holder Tray Thingy On The Dash In A JDM , That's The Big Selling Point In Japan I'm Told P.S JDM's Are Great , Although They Are Very Quiet In Standard Trim.

the only way to tell at a distance is the rear window wiper. They dont have S U B A R U on the back either, but a lot of people take em of anyway

I think it's the tyre size went from 225 to 235 where you see the rear arch extensions as the hub size was changed? I think that came in from 2004 onwards?
