Default crankshaft problems?

Is it true that Subaru's suffer from broken cranks? I've been told by a few people that they snap for fun!! Does anyone know if it is just certain models/years that are prone to this problem - or are my mates talking s**t??

Never seen a snapped crank ever - big end failure is the common factor and have seen 2 cranks with bent "snouts" from Accident Damage ( frontal Impact).
Would assume your mate is talking out of his "Rear Main Oil Seal" !!

My engine's not long gone.

But thats on a 13 yr old car and engine and until I strip it down and find otherwise it sounds like one of the big ends, but crank is deffanatly not snapped. The cars always been looked after with regular oil changes, new parts when needed and always let warm up / cool down as with all the cars I've had. But for the past 3 years whenever it's been driven it been driven hard with quite a few track days and 1/4 mile launches.

I think it's lasted me well. Just my 2p .
