So who's noticed the arrival of a new STI version?

http://210.254.95.20/showroom/imp_sti_ra/

The aim was to inject extra handling/performance, so there is more torque and less weight. A swath of suspension mods (including geometry changes = lots more caster among other things), new tyres (RE070s - only just road legal here), and just about nothing else - this a competition car and won't win any awards for the spec!

Some of the highlights:

no undercoat, small washer fluid tank, no front tower bar, lightweight glass, no airbags, no passenger side sunvisor or centre visor, no remote boot opener, no shaft tunnel insulation or boot trim/lining, small fuel tank (50l), lightweight roof & boot lid.

Oh - the go faster bits - Ball bearing turbo, special exhaust and muffler, cams, ECU, tranny oil cooler, 13:1 steering rack, the tyres mentioned above ride on a new BBS wheel, even the fuel pump is tweaked. Oh, and then there is the 12l water tank in the boot for the IC spray.

Naturally losing 90kg means a better p/w ratio, too

I don't know if it is even raod legal anywhere in the world but here...

While you are there, check out the revised wing (actually the cuurent one on a new base it seems.

Enjoy!

Hmm

Looks interesting. I particularly liked the picture of the car with steel wheels to reduce weight - it reminds me of the Peugeot "Rallye" editions of the 205 etc.

The "new spoiler" you mention looks suspiciously like the standard wing with the Zero Sports / UPAuto lifters.

Subaru WRX NB-R Zero Sports UPAuto

IIRC RA's are often used as rally homologation specials, so the steel wheels are there just to get it out of the factory, they get thrown away and competition wheels slapped on when rally prepared.

Duncan,

I agree m8, but it does have that bit between the *posts*

I feel Subaru is gonna get active about the fortunes of the Imprezza - and hopefully some of the tweaks on Spec C will make it to the STI sooner or later. I think the addition of more caster shows that the Whiteline ALK works too...

Red face

Sorry chaps (and ladies if you are watching ), missed the link to the WRX NR-B.

Note the new-ish wing...(thanks Duncan )

The car looks like a similar spec to the UK in the interior, brake and wheel department (but 250ps for Japan of course). The struts are 3 times as rigid as the std JDM-WRX fare, which is nice.

Cheers
