I reckon that this type of spoiler is the chap that most people want on thier scoobs, IMHO.

Followed by P1 type then 22b type then STi iv and then the rest.

Now I personally think that the 22b spoiler and the P1 chap looks a tad big on a four door car and even dafter on a wagon (Only kidding Lizzy lol)

I asked in the wanted section about 3 times who has a STi v spoiler that they wanted to sell and got zero response.

Tell me, who bloody does 'em. I'm not proud and replicas will do

You should know this one m8

Jap Innovations do 'em!

STi V is (I think) 2" higher off the boot than the 22b one, which is the one I'm getting from them soon.

cheers

Mikey,

Where you been lately, the moon?

The DR Motorsport one's look the biz and you can even get them ready-painted. Personally I prefer the 22b one's as the STI V/VI's are huge. According to DRM, they're a foot off your bootlid.

I think they're around £400 (painted) for the 22b one. Compared to the £850 I got quoted for a Prodrive one, it looks like a bargain.

Cheers for the responses sofar

Let's be right about this then, £400 for a chuffing spoiler

I reckon that important items such as Brakes, Discs, Pads, Exhausts, Lights, Tyres are entitiled to carry a premium, afterall, if I ran a parts company, i'd charge more for essentials.

However, cosmetic stuff like Wheels, Spoilers, Indicator lenses, interiors, Gauges, bloody hell, c'mon....£400

Is that the going rate or have I just been looking in the wrong places?

Mikey (Wishing that he was an aftermarket scoob fettler)

Well keep looking for the spoiler in wanted/private - I got mine purely by chance and picked it up for a £250 and the person who did my rear bumper when it got smashed will paint it for next to nothing

You just gotta learn to blag

Cool

'Chelle,

I am King of the blag (been selling for 12 years now) however, there is a distinct difference between a blag and an unreasonable request.

Also i don't have blonde hair, big eyes and a pair of hters

Only Kidding, thanks for the advice

Have you seen the price of a genuine 22b spoiler?

£1500! UNPAINTED

fair enough, a dodgy bit of MAX POWER plastic that is purely cosmetic should be cheap but these things must have cost 1000s to research and develop in terms of downforce and how they divert the air, whether and how much they slow the car down etc. They must have tried loads of prototype alternatives. They are also made of top quality materials and shouldn't flex like cheaper variants.
I can undersatnd them being dear, but £1500 IS excessive.

For a cheap alternative, get a scrapyard genuine item or a second hand one. I wouldn't personally go for something less than the one's you've already mentioned at £400.

£2,500

I reckon even I could design, mould and paint a spoiler for the M3 for that money. Lets be right about it!

It's bloody tiny

I understand the research costs etc need to be passed on, but they should maybe have two sets of spoilers, one type that "actually" works designed by rally teams etc made of all the right stuff perfect build quality etc and another type for people like me (and I suspect the majority of Scooby owners) one which is based on the "proper" ones but need only deal with the odd excursion over 70mph, no yumps or boulders, no mechanics tool boxes, needs to look the part but in reality only serves to imply that it stabilises the car at speed.

Lets face it, a scoob needs to be traveling at about 80mph for the aerodynamic downforce to be significant enough to effect handling, I'm not good enough to do the roundabouts in Nottingham at that speed Nor could i "do" my favorite B road at that speed because of blind corners and crests etc.

The track is where it's at. If i were doing loads of track Days then, like big brake kits, I wouldn't mind spending the money on a piece of equipment which will aid my performance (potentially )

I'm not anti-spoiler or anything, I just reckon that theres a market for us underling, non- track owners who would like thier cars to look good. You would still get ya fashion junkies who would by the "authentic" proper spoiler, the one that actually works, because they would want people to think they do loads of track days.

Why should my STi IV spoiler have a value of £130 and a STi V spoiler cost 3-4 times as much?

Cheers for listening, i'll get off me soap box now

Cool

Mikey.. u tart!!!

come and check out me lovely new STi 5 spoilers hot from Japan. They are a beautiful moulding as Phil says. Naturally the Trouser Express will be sporting one for the holiday season

They are £250 as is.... or £350 painted (plus VAT... of course ). This includes the brake light! Unusually for an aftermarket moulding (even the WRC ones we have made by an F1 constructor) there is no filling and fettling to do at all!! it is the only moulding I have evr taken to the body shop that they haven't pulled some sort of face at!!

I was daft enough not to take my camera to the body shop whilst i was there yesterday, but it the Trouser Express will be here on our Xmas knees up on the 22nd, if u want to see!.. and buy one for yourself ... and yes you CAN bid for them THAT day!

cheers

Mikey,
Phone up your local Scooby dealer and ask them how much they'd charge you for the same sort of spoiler you've got (std high level MY99-00)

Whatever spoiler is fitted to your car must be able to survive very high forces, I know if my rear wing snapped at 140, or whatever, I'd be somewhat less than impressed, and looking for my money back.
