PPP/Resonated pipe
Hi, I am just about to order PPP for my 06 STi, but have a question. At present the car has a staright thro pipe instead of the resonated pipe. I beleive when PPP is fitted the resonated pipe usually stays (maybe wrong) but if so, are there any gains in asking for the straight pipe to stay on or is it better to leave it with the resonated pipe so as not to mess up any settings with the PPP. Cheers.
I assume the resonated section is retained to restrict the noise level and also to reduce the cost of the conversion. The resonator pipe is of slightly smaller diameter than the new PPP system (on my 03 STi at least)
In theory, if you've already replaced part of the original system you could run into warrenty issues if you have a "by the book" dealer.
I would think that at the PPP level of gain, that there would be no real effect on performance either way.

you won't loose your warranty for changing this pipe just the warranty for that section of the pipe !
I did this on MY05 STi type UK PPP and replaced with straight thru H&S pipe. Turbo spools up quicker, throatier exhaust note and warranty intact !
Check with your dealer but should not be a problem
