Default HELP MISSUS WASHED CAR KEYS................

As the title states my other half acidentally washed the key for MY03WRX

Problems in now obviously the key doesnt work. no probs you think, just use the other key.

Got into car after opening it with spare key fob remote. Try to start car and it runs for a split second then cuts off.

Obviously its down to the immobiliser but on reading my manuals I can find no way of fixing it. tried coding the key to the car using the override pad but still the same. kley opens and closes car no probs but will not allow immobiliser to cut off for some reason.

Any Ideas?

Mine did the same thing a couple of years ago.

Open the key and dry the inside with a hairdryer for about 5 minutes. Then put the key back together again and it should work. Well it worked for me anyway!

Mine was put through a 40 degree (non colour fast cotton wash) and was fine. As previously mentioned try drying it out. Can't you use the keypad ? Good luck.

Did you have the washed key on you whilst using the other key?
With transponder keys, sometimes they are a bit iffy if they are near another transponder. Might help.

just spoke with stealers and they were quite reasonable. they will come to my house and recode the car for £50.

new key is around 100 + VAT unfortunately but not as bad as I thought it may be.
